It'll vary enormously by provider, what you want it to do, what kind of equipment you need, the calls you want to make and whether you need finance. Rough guide for us, £1.50 per month per extension, £3pm for a number, phones from £45. IVR and queues added as you like. No contract. Full prices here:

Hopefully not too off-topic and is related to the question, but why would someone want handsets and why would a VOIP setup include network infrastructure which in theory is already in place for the office?
Asking the question for anyone getting quotes for this sort of thing.

Speaking personally anything more than an app on your mobile, and maybe your laptop/computer if you really want to, is extra baggage.

It's definitely on-topic.

Unless it's a new office installation it would be unusual to need new wiring to add VoIP phones. The phones can use passthrough connections to existing PCs and everything could even be WiFi now - though personally I'm a bit old fashioned and like physical wires.

Many offices no longer use desk phones at all, relying on mobile apps, we're also considering secondary mobile eSIMs for just this kind of use. Mobiles are, rather obviously, mobile, so they work outside the office too - basically you're carrying your office's cloud PBX around in your pocket wherever you go.

But there are things that are simply easier to do with desk phones in an office environment because they have physical buttons for routine office functions - transferring calls, recording call , putting calls on hold etc. Pretty indispensable if you use a receptionist system like doctors, dentists, accountants etc. And of course, you can mix and match desk and apps to suit we're no longer stuck with just one working model.

Call centre type operations tend to need the fixed desk phone or PC based app.

The latter office setup you describe is what we need with the ability to transfer / hold calls, etc..

If you call us - 0345 868 5555 - and talk through what you're hoping to achieve the guys will tell you what your options are. They're tech support not sales people - we don't employ sales people - they won't try to sell you anything, just give you advice then tell you what your chosen plan would cost.

We use Voipfone and have no issues whatsoever, always good to be able to speak to someone also. There technical help is second to none

@cjd we would like to run a Softphone app as well as physical handsets but this isn't available yet. Would be much easier to do it this way for us as sometimes we work from home or at site

You can use a soft phone as well as a desk phone, you just can't use both simultaneously on the same account - or rather you can but they'll both attempt to register every 60 seconds and it'll be random which is active. To use both independently you need to put each on a separate extension, they can then be grouped together or work separately. You could call us tomorrow and they'll explain it.

Can't you just run a bog standard voip client on your PCs?
We pay for voipfone. It can either be used on a physical handset or on the pc or a mobile phone. But not all 3

We went with physical phones in the first instance as they are then 'always on' and won't be affected by WiFi drops as the physical phones are hard wired

You can use all three, but not all on the same account simultaneously without putting each on an extension so they can be identified.

I work for a company that can provide all the hardware and software for £15 a user per month. This includes advanced features such as call recording and call diversion to any mobile device. Additionally, it offers unlimited calls to both landlines and mobiles.

Hi @cjd , i belive it is possible nowadays. You may want to contact Enreach and we can connect all 3 devices to one extension. It's not at all complicated
