We've had a couple of threads this week where people asked for feedback on their websites and I commented that I felt they never got to the heart of the benefits they were selling.

You can see these threads here:

This got me thinking and inspired my latest newsletter.

In it, I reveal a formula you can use to uncover and express the “ultimate benefit” your product or service provides.

You can read it for free at:

Hope you find it useful,

    That a neat & useful trick :)

Something I've been worried about personally, is that my company is technology led - it has to be given that what we do and all day everyday is try to add new features to a core product.

I'm also very aware that the majority of our target market haven't a clue what (VoIP) our basic product is let alone what the latest wizzbang tweak to it does!

However, it's normal in new industries to be technology led and in fact when selling to early adopters in a new market selling features NOT benefits is very powerful too - geeks like to find their own benefits (one of which is bragging rights to fellow geeks)

Similarly when marketing to educated/professional buyers, they tend to dislike being patronised by the benefits led sell and want to see a hard-nosed list of solid features.

However, I rather sheepishly went to have a look at the opening paragraph of our web site which I wrote about 18 months ago and was pleased to see it passes your tests quite well considering :)
