Hi Folks,
Here is your October Update on what’s happening at UKBF
. (Yes, "UKBF" and "UK Business Forums" are now registered trademarks!)
It’s been a few months since I last posted an announcement. As with many a plan, things have overrun and it took a while to get to this stage where I’m really excited to announce the next stage of developments for UKBF. Sit back, grab a cuppa, as I’ve got quite a bit to update you on.
Business Membership
We’re now live with the first phase of our new Business Membership proposition which comes with a range of business saving offers from leading partners such as TSB, Google, Vodafone and more. Including great deals from long standing members such as @cjd from voipfone and also member Matt from TakePayments. All these discounts and deals give a collective saving for your business of more than £400, more than four times the £99 per year cost of the membership upgrade itself with more deals being added each month as we continue secure discounts and money off deals from more and more providers for you.
UKBF Perks
You will see a new feature within your My Account where you can view and access a range of business savings and benefits provided as part of your Business Membership. Free members will be able to access this page and if you wish to access any of the offers you will be guided to the Upgrade page to upgrade your membership.
Business Members can access this page now and take advantage of all and any of the offers in place. We’re also currently in the final throes of bringing more benefits as we continue to build and enhance the savings and benefits available to Business Members.
These perks include savings and benefits such as a discount on Google Workplaces, half price deals from Voipfine and Clearbooks, huge discounts on Wix, to mention just a few of the perks of Business Membership saving our members money for their business.
Improve Members Directory / Business Finder
Up to now the members profile pages and listings have been excluded from Google indexing. Go check out my profile, you’ll see we’ve improved the business profile and allowed Google indexing for our members. Business Members are able to add in their website and social details, and further information about their business. The all new members business directory is searchable and we’ll be pushing this feature for businesses to find customers and suppliers to trade with.
Anonymous Threads
As we push out the removal of anonymous accounts, a previous announcement and discussed in the forums, we are introducing the ability for our Business Members to post anonymous threads to discuss sensitive topics on the forums. We’re introducing this feature within the community for Business Members to promote and be able to access the business benefits provided by UKBF whilst also enabling the benefit of support from the community for sensitive business challenges. This feature is already live for our business members to ask these questions and will the option to create an anonymous thread when starting new threads.
Admin and Moderators will have access to see the account details behind anonymous threads, but this information will be hidden from other visitors and users of the site.
Complete Your Profile
UKBF’s main purpose is to support business owners. To support the above will require some members to complete more information about their business within their profile and their business listing for these benefits to be effective. If this affects you then you’ll see a nag screen appear on the site regularly reminding you to complete your profile information. A complete, non-anonymous, profile is part of the updated terms of use for this site which were introduced in August.

Smart Business Launch
This is a big one! We've had a few false starts over the past year, but we are now live with our B2B comparison site that will sit alongside UKBF with the aim of supporting businesses in saving money and time. This is the service I’ve mentioned many times over the past couple of years, some may have questioned its existence
Smart Business will develop over the coming months to offer a broad range of comparison services for business ranging from finance, broadband, energy and other products you would typically expect from such a platform. To start we have launched with business insurance and landlord insurance, in partnership with Simply Business, and I’d encourage anyone looking for cover to give Smart Business a try.
If we’re able to easily connect you with suitable insurance cover for your business or rental property, fantastic and it also helps fund the activities of UKBF.
