New moderator?

I must clarify that I'm not after any kind of moderation role myself. If I was offered then I'd accept but even I'm sometimes not in on certain nights, there's probably someone better suited for the role.

Steve would be good for it due to his time-zone differences, but I know he's a busy guy.

I think it is an issue because the forum gets filled up with 25 spam posts and you have to let them lie there for a few hours which IS just annoying for people up at that time. Overall the actual issue is very small, it's only a bunch of spam posts. But still, what's the argument for leaving them there for hours (when people might actually visit these links and fuel the spammers) and not getting an extra moderator? People talk like getting a new mod should be avoided at all costs.

I shouldn't really be saying this until Sift have said something of course.

Scott - I know where you're coming form but what happens if your not around for a few nights - then who's the night police. I really don't see this as an issue.

If I got asked to be mod I would too.

Regarding what people have been saying about it not being a problem: It IS a problem, not everyone is as clever and sometimes gets taken in by these spammers and lose money.

Regarding what people have been saying about the fact that it gets cleared up by morning: Yes maybe most of it gets cleared by morning but people are browsing the forums 24/7/365, just because you only come on in the morning at normal times doesn't mean people don't get affected, it's not just me, Steve and Scott that are affected by it because we're on at night in UK time, it affects a lot of people and people that are visiting for the first time and see a spam filled forum arn't going to want to stay, making the forum look bad.

Regarding what people have been saying about the fact that the forum is called UK Business Forums: Yes, it's called that but that doesn't mean only people in the UK can be a member and post etc, banning other countries really is discrimination, I'm 100% against spammers and illegal/fake/non-existant factories in China but you just can't ban them, just because it's called UK Business Forums doesn't mean English people in China, Sweden, Pakistan, and all the other countries can't be a member. They are still english you know!

In my opinion, Sift should take on 4 or 5 more mods to spend a few hours at night checking the forums and regularly checking the reported posts for new ones to sort out.

me for mod, pick me, pick me, pick me, you know you wanna!!!

I'd sort those dirty midnight spammers out, good and proper, oh yea!!!

I could start my own section about the issues that are really important to business, like Tea making and how to have a fair rota system for buying the doughnuts.

Oh the power.......................me is going all giddy!!!!!!
