They're directories of suppliers, I think you need to do a little research yourself first.

The two sources you have quoted are not really directories, The Trader is basically the website for the now defunct Trader magazine and wholesaledeals is in reality a 'scraping' site picking up deals from various sources on the web, this you have to pay to access at I think about £15 a month which doesn't make it a good place for someone to do their initial research.

Just had a look at thewholesaler.co.uk under schoolwear. Not one of the companies was present from the 60+ exhibitors at the schoolwear show in Birmingham in October.

I think you should try eBay and Amazon too, contact sellers and ask them to provide a sample first.

how big is your order? if it is over 2K, it could be reasonable/cost saving to buy them directly from factories. if not, just get some from wholesale to save time and you will have more choices of products too.
