    I am looking to trafemark now... I thought I knew what trademark we needed but just found out it may be 5 or 6 we need (£$!).

    For example, for my particular industry. there are toys, beds, clothing... all seem to be in different classes... So for example if it was Child products... I was hoping I could just register my brand for Child products... but it seems I would need to have 3 different trademarks?
    I am in the process of setting up on Amazon brand registry, are they going to want all 3 trademarks if I want to sell those type of products or will one do??

    Yes, you need to register for each class in which you want to be protected. Once a trademark has been registered you cannot go back and add more classes, so you need to plan for the future.

    It isn't that expensive though...
    1st Class - £170
    Each additional class - £50
    Right start service - £30

    You pay 50% of the total up front and then the balance if you want to go ahead. I recommend the extra £30 because an IPO trademark lawyer will take a look and let you know if you are likely to fail before you pay the balance. If you have screwed up, you lose the deposit but at least you don't waste 3 months.

    So, for example, 5 classes plus right start...
    = £170 + (4 x £50) + £30 = £400
    Deposit = £200
    An IPO lawyer then takes a look and if you are happy to continue, you pay the other £200
