Charging for pallet storage / Yard space

We're looking to rent out excess warehouse racking space for storing palletised goods. We're proposing to charge for taking goods into the warehouse, a weekly charge per pallet and a charge per pallet out.

We're also looking to rent out storage space in the yard for anything that could be storage outside. I was wondering if anyone either rents out space or pays for storage on a sim, bulding materials, vehicles, plant whatever. Does anyone offer space or rent space on a similar basis? If so, I was wondering what people would consider reasonable charges to be for this.

A lot depends on where you are.

I have not looked at thrid party storage for a while, but seem to remember £2-2.50 per pallet/per week, if racked. Bulk/floor pallet would be about the same. Unloading/loading was the thing that varied, from a couple quid a movement to £10+, depending on the company.

Take anything you are offered. Thousands of companies have spare space now. you can only hope to get a decent price if you can offer offloading and several other services.

I did exactly what you were cosndiering. My first port of call was phone round the competing self storage/ palletised storage places and found out whta they were charging.
Since I had other operations running and this was just a bit of extra "pocket money" I priced aggressively so charged around 80% of the competitor price. It worked.
