Best Processer for my transactions?

Hello,

My internet company turns over approximately 6k per month, with the average transaction ranging from £25 to £100. We currently use PayPal.

I know there is already a thread on payment processers but wondered if anyone could recommend a specific payment processer which would be ideal for my company? As mentioned above we use paypal and pay around £300 a month in processing fees. Our transaction costs are 30p, plus 2.9%. It would also be nice to have a payment service which allows me to take credit and debit card payments on the telephone!

I am eager to try and lower these fees as I know that something as simple as reducing this, could free up a lot more spare cash. I am looking to contract hire a company car and see this as a great way of not actually spending any more money! 8)

Do you run a business with a similar online sales volume? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks for you help!

You actually have a similar turnover to us for one of our sites except our transaction value is higher. As Michael stated, get a merchant account from your bank.

It does pay to shop about though. HSBC wanted a £20,000 deposit (yes that is the right number of zeros) from us for a merchant account where as Lloyds, who went with didn't want any deposit...

We use www.protx.com for the gateway which is excellent as if you process less than 1,000 transaction in a quarter, their fee is £20+vat regardless of the value. Over 1,000 and its 10p per transaction...
