I think He must be Self-Isolating . . . . .(Alone?)He hasn’t responded yet, I’m guessing He’s having a day of rest...

My best advice is don't do it if you are thinking of taking a tenancy or lease. If management different. Think of another trade. There are far too many reasons to list why it's not a good idea...

I think He started it.Apparently he has a busy weekend coming up
Important to retain our sense of humor in these times!I know a lot about the pub
The local cider comes out the barrel out the back The pump for the cider is not real decoration only
The other pumps have beer come out them
The chef cooks on the cooker I don't normally opt for food but I had a ploughmans the day before Boris banned the pub .Proper hungry that day !
In the summer I sit out in the beer garden In the winter I sit on the table by the fire where I can look out the window too
Can't be much to running a pub
Hope this helps

Life of Brian.

We used to have a pub.
The brewery we were tied to were milking us on rent and barrel costs which was fine when we were selling loads, but they would not reduce costs when income dropped. They also offered no support in repairing/improving the pub which they didnt have to, but when there is no profit there is no money to invest and then it just becomes a spiral.
There is a website called how to run a pub however some of the guidance should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.
What do you want to know.
Where I live (in the north east) there are 7 pubs, a micropub and a club. The population is about 8,000. At the bottom of the hill there is 1 pub and a micropub, population about 14,000.My guess is big pubs with large restaurant seating capacity are good.
The local pub on the corner no.
My local, The Prince Albert looks very poorly
Social change has been happening for years; more people work from home, more people shop on line, I can see when this pandemic is over, we wint revert to the same.
Perhaps there are opportunities for village pubs to change into business hubs, if more people work from home, they can pop into their local to get the 'water cooler' time out from the office.
The 10 pubs in every village is dead.

Where is Byre, he normally has a lot of comments on running a pub, as a ex para he should know the inside out of pubs especially around Aldershot

When I work from "home" I actually work from my local pub. Between 11 and 1 there is only usually me and 2 old men in there. At 1pm, some of the people from the local offices come in for lunch and sometimes during the holidays its a mothers meeting with about 5 mums and their kids but generally speaking between 11 and 3 I can get plenty done. If I get food its about £10 as I get staff discount! If I dont get food its about a fiver on brews.
Me tooI know I'm being a pedant but the title of this thread bugs me every time I see it![]()
