Which is the best SEO tools for beginners ?

The most important or fundamental tools are obviously Google Webmasters, Google Analytics. if you mean by SEO audit tools, there are quite a few good ones on the chrome web store, including Mozbar, MajesticSEO, SEO quake, Chrome SEO, etc. Some of them you have to pay for premium features.

I think it's all depend on what you need to do really.

Hi.

There are a collection of programs under the name "SEO Powersuite" and these are easy, but can be very useful in SEO.

In addition to this, for beginning on SEO have you started signing yourself up to directories to create citations?

Also, make a Google+ page for your business. As it is a Google page itself, if it's good and the page is popular, that alone can be enough to considerably raise your ranking on Google.

Beginners will be looking for a list of sites for link building. So Direcrycritic.com will help. Similarly social-bookmarking-sites-list.com will help to get some social bookmarking site list.

The important thing is to know how to use Google's webmaster tools and analytics. So beginner should learn usage of both tools. Then comes the backlink concepts. Sites like BacklinkWatch.com opensite explorer will be helpful in getting the backlinks of your site and your competitor sites.

In my opinion these are the major tools that a beginner must know.

There are so many SEO Tools that can be used, many of which are more reliable than others. One I would recommend myself is Google Analytics and Google Webmaster. These I have noticed give the best results when it comes to SEO and are also really easy to work with.

It's a bit like asking a roomful of joiners what's a good tool for an apprentice joiner.

The right tool depends upon the job you're trying to accomplish.

Are you looking to diagnose on-page optimisation?
Build a certain type of backlink?
Figure out what keywords you should be pursuing?
Seek out the best links from competitors?
Why your site has been penalised during the last Penguin attack?

Doubtful you'd get the same answers...

Get the skills to do it well manually from end to end, then find the tools that automate the grunt work, saving you time but still leaving you in control.

I absolutely agree. Definitely, there are great tools which make various SEO jobs easier, like seo powersuite mentioned here. But don't fall into the trap that SEO tools will spare you of SEO learning. You need to be in full control of what you're doing and never-ever rely on automation of any kind, especially when it comes to link building.

If you are a beginner, i would suggest google webmasters and google analytics.
Also as i beginner, i would suggest plenty of reading and research, if you don't understand SEO, you could make things worse for your self....

If you're looking for the best tools, you have basically two options.
One option is to use separate tools for each of the following tasks - keyword research, checking keyword rankings, on-page audit, backlink research and analysis and a few more.
The other option is to go for a more holistic solution which lets you perform all SEO tasks from just one dashboard.
So, I quite agree with the previous contributors that the choice of SEO tools depends on what you actually need them for and the concrete tasks you will be performing.

SEO is an important part of online presence. Can anyone share with me, the best SEO tools for beginners?

Your own creative mind is the best tool you can use.

Here are some tips:
- Study webmaster guidelines
- Watch google webmaster help videos
- Learn how Google's algorithm changed over the years
- Keep up to date with the most recent changes
- Read top5 SEO news portals and blogs daily
- Watch all whiteboard fridays at moz
- Learn more about inbound marketing

P.S. Tools will get you nowhere. When you will actually learn SEO, you will know what tool you need to achieve a certain task.

There are a lot of tools but for newbies they only focus on webmaster and the analytic tools of Google.
I agree with him. If you are newbie then you should follow follow analytic tools given by Google because these tools are not complicated and very simple to use in comparison to other tools.

I don't think seo tools are benificial for your site.
If you want an effective seo campaign, you just have to do it your way.
If you think this is too difficult for you to handle, you might as well try using the help of an SEO expert using various seo methods and/or strategies.
If I may, I would blog commenting on top of your list. With manually built blog comments from high PR Do-follow blogs, you are assured of its credibility, quality and profitability.

What about starting with the basics:

SEO is a marathon - NOT a sprint.

Then go down the route of >What is it for?< ->Meaning: If you have a Wordpress site, your SEO can be done automatically by using a free plugin. Yoast for example.<

Guess from here on all the 'WP special forces' will take over.... and advise on some mind-boggling statistical stuff - or why another plugin is better. (It was only an example -;-))

KISS- Keep it simple stupid. Use something easy, trusted and keep costs down. WP is good for me. And I rate no1 in Google!! Without being an SEO expert.

Then monitor the lot with Google Analytics & Webmaster Tools - Job done. For free.

"Google Analytics" not only lets you measure sales and conversions, but also gives you fresh insights into how visitors use your site, how they arrived on your site, and how you can keep them coming back.
