What sectors are busy?

Specialist craft supplies. It's always our busiest months Jan to Easter but this year is exceptional. We did get some expert help with Amazon marketing last year and that's paying off now so its some covid trade, some seasonal trade and focus on marketing too is why it's happening now. I expect it to calm down after Easter though.

Bicycle and fitness equipment manufacturers and retails. You couldn't get a running machine for love nor money a few months ago.

Model Railways. Lots of furloughed people regressing to their childhood.

Very close to being the best year for 4 years and only 2/3 through the year :)

DIY isn't what it was albeit still running stronger than you'd normally expect. It isn't a great time of the year for DIY, fewer outside jobs are done at this time of year with the cold weather and I would guess motivation to do much at all when the nights are long is also a factor. Easter is when DIY usually picks up significantly so be interesting to see if it is another bumper year.

We serve this sort of market and are up 400% YoY.

Well done! Albeit that is not indicative of the market, the U.K. DIY market isn't 400% up, anecdotals aside its 20% ish up IMO. We're a toller to all and sundry including the major UK retailers and so I reckon we get a robust average for the industry across a wide portfolio of products with a wide range of customers (online and b&m). We were/are about 17% up which I would suggest is about what the industry by value has been doing post COVID.

Guy who makes signs in my town is inundated with work. He's employed extra staff and expanded a lot since last march. Combined bike/fishing/golf shop with work wear, signs etc workshop at the back.

We have always only been online and direct to consumer. Last year was 331% increase YoY compared to 2019 and this year is ahead of that.

Hardly spam .... what is wrong with saying that the retail food businesses such as high quality food retailers and farmers markets are busy ? and giving a relevant example with proven facts if anyone wants an extended conversation.

I fear what you see as enthusiasm is coming across as the worst kind of franchise selling

The highest growth area throughout the C-19 pandemic has been retail through ecommerce and mail order business. Here's a comparison to demonstrate exactly how much that sector has grown comparing to the previous couple of years.

Unless they have significant reserves, the attitude is very much one of 'hold tight until it ends'.

It's a great time to pick up a cheap hotel, mind.
There must be some more business minded hotel owners out there. The reason we are so busy at the moment is because many savvy business owners are seeing this as an ideal time to work on long term strategy, and gain an advantage over those who are just going to sit it out.

For online retail only though

Also hard for the retailers to get stock

One of them is a friend of mine

Plus all the big shows and fairs they attend throughout they year can't happen obviously

So depends what the route to market is whether they are doing well

I've also got a friend who supplies mirrors online and the Covid crisis has literally made him and his shareholders millionaires

Again biggest issue is getting stock across from China quick enough for the demand

Anyone with good established non essential online retail should be doing well tbh as all the other places to buy are closed

Surprisingly ive heard that at this stage insolvency practitioners not yet busy.

I know one who has actually laid staff off temporarily

It's the calm before the storm though.

It's all going to kick off soon when the Govt support slowly falls away/reduces
