as a general marketing tool twitter.com has been known for its capabilities as a social network.

My question here is how many of you out there actually believes that twitter.com is actually capable of doing what it says it does?
meaning, reaching out to more people, then any other social network marketing tool.

I did notice that as you add your blog post to twitter is application, people join your network............ social network twitter accounts are they really made out to be the greatest social networking application online . I made with MySpace.com and delicious.com and the other hundreds of social bookmarking applications online twitter does have competition although for those who don't have a twitter account by signing up and getting one would be the only way to see is twitter is actually a good place to do social marketing

If you'd asked me this a few months ago I'd have said no twitter won't deliver BUT I've actually gotten work directly from using twitter and also have made some great contacts.

In my opinion it's worth a try but remember like anything you only get out of it what you put into it.

I guess my concern is that its so undirected traffic like stumbleupon. But yes its worth a shot. Thx

It is undirected if you don't work on it. If you're willing to put in some time then you can find people who are in your target base.

If it's for your business moneysavingcashback.co.uk I think you could do very well. You can get your followers sorted and tweet about current offers, point people towards the site, give them tips on beating the credit crunch (ie shop using moneysavingcashback.co.uk as you get XX amount back).

It's certainly worth your while indulging!

Thank you Rachael.

actuall i have 13 sites.

2 are money saving sites. one is for deals and the other is for advice.
The site below has a .com version which is just good money saving advice.

But i have a network of 8 sites that promotes renewable energy that gets 2.1 million uniques a month. Its as much driving relevent traffic to those as the money sites. There just a side project.

I have found people via twitter but its a bit of an echo chamber some times. It is not a marketing tool...really.

I guess you could set up a twitter account to catch a RSS feed and then post but I doubt people would welcome that if it happened too much. I've seen some vendors (group buying) do that.

Well,

Twitter is an excellent way to keep people up-to-date with what you are up to, and what you are doing between your emails and blog posts. Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

I think Twitter's a great networking tool and part of an online PR / SEO mix - although if we're honest about the ROI on the time we spend on it I'm not convinced it's good value.

Will it be around in 12 months, or even 6? Not sure given its issues about generating any revenue but it's so easy to get started there seems no excuse.

One thing that we've found useful is to set Twitterfeed up on our company blogs - we've been suprised how many people have started following us this way, compared to say just an RSS feed

I have found twitter to be a wonderful tool for me as well as my business. I have made some sales directly through contacts on twitter. I find it very interesting and learning loads - I find it brings a personal perspective as well as buisness and the two together works well for me. :)

I'm just getting into twitter.

So far, it seems like a good way of seeing what's going on with business people I know.

I suspect that, from that, ideas for projects might come up.

e.g. I might see them doing something I need and hire them, or vice versa, or come up with a joint venture idea.

Strangely, I'm also being followed by people I don't know, so I suppose it'll spread the word.
