sourcing voucher codes ?

where do all the voucher code websites get codes from these businesses with the discount codes?

i have a new dail deals site and I'm thinking of adding some discount codes but ofcourse I want to get paid if the traffic I direct to the site results in a sale. Are they are sourced through some kind of voucher code affiliate network? If so what are the names of these networks?

They are done through affiliate networks, you will need to do your own research to find which network the companies you want to use, are on.

Some of the most popular are: commission junction, tradedoubler and clickbank but there are hundreds.

Would I need to apply through the affiliate network then ... i.e. does the merchant make the decision to allow you to advertise their voucher or does the affilliate network provider decide? Any pointers to ensure I don't get a NO! ?

Also, how do you get your signature to display? Mine isn't...

Each individual affiliate will decide to let you into their affiliate account so make sure the website is upto scratch.

Signatures with links are a paid feature, you can find out more here

You can add a signature without the links though.

I would work on your website first and try and start getting some traffic as we have just signed up with Paid On Results as a merchant and have had a lot of voucher code sites request to join our affiliate scheme but had to say no to a few sites as they were just rubbish and wouldn't generate any traffic to us never alone any sales.

Affiliate Window has many big high street names too.

Also some sites get members to add coupons.

we've set ours up to manual approval but others have automatic so they won't all say no. Depends on who you want to promote. I doubt the big companies manually approve. You won't know unless you give it a try.

It is is more about value add, rather than technology.

If a site is being reviewed, they will look at the basics
- under construction = reject
- no privacy policy / terms & conditions / identified owner = reject

Then whether the 'brand' of the site is consistent with their product & brand

Then, whether they feel your site offers something of value.

Some are not too fussy - some are.

I have two case studies that I base my input on - across Tradedoubler & Affiliate Windows

1. a simple wordpress blog about sailing - accepts from adventure holiday companies like Neilsons, outdoor clothing companies like O'Neil - rejects from high street stores like Tescos

2. a custom facebook application that groups pending deliveries in an area (now defunct) - accepts vast majority of high street stores that deliver - reject John Lewis (I guess they are picky)

It is so easy to sign up and request affiliations, so you should just try and test - if you start getting too many rejects then consider redesigning part of your site into 'reviews' or some sort of value add.

Personally, I would go with Affiliate Windows, as they have a nice automated CSV coupons feed, that is fairly easy to write some code to upload to a database.

Thanks Andy, that looks ideal and they have a wordpress plugin that I can integrate into my site. I guess I still have to register with the individual affiliate network providers? So I would need to do that first to ensure I get enough onboard...

Yes, you would need to register with the networks. I should imagine the individual merchants too. I don't work with codes/deals at the moment so not completely up to date with how icodes works these days
