Should I use CAPTCHA on PPC landing page?

I currently use CAPTCHA character security on my custom PPC landing pages (as seen here), and was wondering if there is any research which suggests that this puts people off?

I asked for comments on my new landing page in another forum and someone commented that you should never use CAPTCHA on a landing page.

Cheers,

I don't know about any research, but I don't like any landing page that slows me down

I think that view will be pretty representative.

So, it's probably going to be a trade-off between lower conversion and spam reduction.

On the plus side, at least you're using a version that's readable. I see some sites where it's incredibly difficult to read the characters.

just code your page in a clever way that tricks the spammers. for example, have an input box coded as email address, and one as website address, and use DHTML (javascript / css) to make them invisible to normal web users. only the spam bots will fill them in properly ;)

this is what I have done with my phpbb forum. the script checks to see if the website url has been completed, and if it has, the account request is automaically binned as humans can't see it :)

Result is that i runa busy phpbb forum and get only human spam which is less than one or two a month!
