Read this forum on iPhone/iPad

I know a couple of others have requested this and perhaps if sift are interested I found this http://www.forumrunner.net/ a small script to install on this site which is free and then users pay to download the app on both iphone and android.

Be great to view this site on the go and not through a mobile browser!

There's also a Tapatalk option, which pretty much does the same thing. They have/had a free and paid for version of the app too - obviously the free version has more limited features.

Tapatalk would be an excellent addition to the forum, even for those of use who aren't such regular posters as i use tapatalk to pull in all my forum accounts to jump between forums easily. +1

I'm on my iPad too and yep it's fine here. But I use multiple forums and options like tapatalk mean u can pick up the detail you need between those forums, but ok say u travel too, acess by 3G, edge or whatever can be shocking unlike broadband wifi, what the app does it give u the detail in short I guess like an rss feed (that's my view of it anyway), it just makes it more accessible and it's free for the forum and £1.59 for those who want to use it.

Yes, I agree with this, I am also on my iPad and its perfect.

You can always create a link on your desktop on your iPad like I did Just link add to home screen...

I'm obviously missing something .... you want to _pay_ to use an _app_ on a device that has it built in (a web-browser), in order to get a half-arsed cut-down version of the forum ?

Why not simply stuff your hand in a meat grinder and get a less-than-optimal experience all round ?

Yeah I think ur right I think u are missing something.
You're basically saying why use chopsticks at the Chinese when you can use a fork as it's easier to get food on the fork and in your mouth. Well the reason is it's all about user preference both at a Chinese and on the web. And as I mentioned if you are on the move slow Internet can be the bane of anyone's life.
But at the end of the day someone using chopsticks doesnt affect anyone not using them and that's the same for tapatalk etc.

I would tend to agree for iPad users, for iPhone users its a must. Means you just have a tableview (list) on your screen and can very quickly dip in and out of forums and posts. Its not half arsed either, its full functionality.

Hope sift are listening! As others have said for the forum owners who have to put some code on the server its free. Its just then up to those that want to pay for the app.

I don't see how its a half-arsed solution at all... the opposite in fact for me.

Navigation is quicker with scrolling on phone. Really quick to jump between forums and find threads. No adds either. It's like reading blogs but in mobile view... much nicer on phone than using safari (especially if you want to view quick links, todays posts as much too small)

I'm finding that I'm spending more time on forums that have tapatalk than those that don't

Facebook I can warrant having on my iphone as once in a blue moon someone posts something worth reading to entertain me whilst commuting maybe its early days for me but the site doesnt flow enough for me to warrant veiwing on my iphone

The Archive PDA (<- direct link, or from home page click Archive link bottom right, then PDA link top right) version of this site might be a more appropriate version of the site if you mainly want a read-only, more simple, more bandwidth friendly of the site for some mobile browsing devices on slow mobile data connections (3G, GPRS). The archive PDA version isn't completely real-time up to date, but it is fairly up to date (I'm not sure how often it is refreshed, but there are some of today's posts on it).

Having a native forum reading app for mobiles might raise the issue of where does the advertising go, but then again there's no advertising on the archive PDA version of the site either.
