Looking for everyone's input my ecommerce store which sells Home Decor etc.. currently I am using plain white back round images for products however considering using Lifestyle images?

However can't decide if its the right thing to do?

Whats everyone's thoughts?

Hi @THF and welcome to UKBF.

White backgrounds are ok but you also need images of the product in situ and in use if applicable. You also need detail images.

For example have a cushion with the white background but also on a sofa and a close up of the zip and maybe the sticking of the pattern. If it has different colours you need a set of each colour.

as @fisicx said, the more images you have the better.

Product photos with white backgrounds are great for overall consistency, having them as the leading picture for your products tends to make the shop/category page look "cleaner", but lifestyle photos are what actually sells the product IMHO, so use those also on the website as well as on social media.

The more pictures you have the better, consider creating contests to collect user-generated content showcasing your products in action.

Definitely use white backgrounds as your default image (have a look a Google Shopping ads, the ones that pop are the ones on white background) then use lifestyle for supplementary images. With home interiors, people like to see it in situ. The issue sometimes with lifestyle images however, is people start looking at other items in the room...'I don't like the colour of the walls or the sofa' etc etc and so don't forcus on what's being sold. That's why I would include both.
