my website going live in a couple of weeks selling hair products

can anyone give me some advice as to what would be the best kind of packaging? i think most orders will be ~250ml bottles so i think a jiffy bag would suffice, but would the chance of an item perishing be reduced by using boxes/tubes?

Also, can someone tell me what is the best company to send with? I need one that has some sort of online status tracking, and currently am going to go with royal mail but if anyone can point out a cheaper alternative i would be grateful

Hairsoup - In regards to Royal Mail, can you give me some idea of what sort of contract you have with them, and how will it work? Once you have packed the item/s, do you have to go to their office, or do they collect it from your door and deliver? some idea on the pricing structure would also help?

at first were dropping them off ourselves but when we get enough orders to justify a pickup then that is what we will do.

It really depends on what kind of service, the weight of the parcels, etc.

I use a combination of ParcelForce and Interlink Express, both offer on line booking of collections, printing of labels and tracking, but ParcelForce charge per parcel, whereas Interlink per consignment, but ParcelForces rate is up to 30kg, whereas Interlink is only 10kg, then they charge per kg.

Both pick up when I book a collection on line.

You have to look at what kind of services you require and then shop around.
