I am wanting to do some paid banner advertising for an adult site i have. I have worked on optimizing the landing page of my site. What things should i look for when buying paid advertisements, like alexa rank, how many people use the site etc. Should i keep my budget low initially and how can i track results?

Alexa rank is not a paid advertisement and its only an traffic estimator on how your website is popular when it comes to traffic. Unfortunately for your niche its hard to find some related website that are willing to be your associate.

Paid marketing offered by Insta and FB are pretty useless. They dont get approved until 2 hrs before it gets approve. paid £50 and got one follower - there was 1000 views though

I would suggest you to prefer Google Analytics and hopefully it is free.

Google Analytics as suggested to keep an eye on keywords that are working and sites where traffic is coming to you from is going to help.

I would imagine that being listed with links to your site in related directories or blogs or within other content would benefit.

I’m personally not a fan of any banner adverts and run for the hills when there is talk of impressions made, it’s all BS most of the time, you want proven ROI facts.

I no longer waste money on any marketing I can’t measure a direct conversion from. Unless you are building a brand and have very deep pockets I would avoid

Do more research first. I know lots of people who have paid £££ for facebook google and other ads but it's been a waste of money. You need to use all avenues of publicity to get people to believe and buy in to you

Depending what your adult theme is then you may find that some of the search engines won't even list your site let alone advertise it. I once owned an adult site but that was simply for adult only holidays but still some didn't like the name.
