Im not looking for something mega strong just something stronger than the piece of **** I bought 2 months ago.

I had a HTC phone and dropped it every few weeks and it was fine (until the screen hit a stone).
The motorola phone I bought 2 months ago shattered the first time I dropped it...on grass! It costs more to replace the screen than it does a new phone and im not buying another motorola phone in a hurry.

I would buy the same phone again but it would be nice to have more memory/faster processor as I had it for about 2 years. I think it is something to do with the screens that wrap around the sides rather than finishing just before the edge? But I could be wrong.

I had an HTC sensation years ago, and then an M8. As you, I found them to be very well built. I've just got a Huawei p20 pro and am very impressed with the build quality. Much more like the old HTC's than the flimsy plastic alternatives.

I have a Samsung phone, often get the brand. Current one is a J3 I think.
Have dropped them dozens of times. Always in a case.
Only ever had one that cracked, an S7 edge that cracked along the rear. Was still fine to use and used it for many months afterwards.
    The other phones haven't cracked.

The cases I buy tend to be foldover and seal with a magnetic clasp - not simply decorative.

I did actually see that phone Scalloway but surely im not that bad with phones compared to the rest of the world.

I have never broken a phone and then I break 2 in the space of 2 months. Just something that is built to last every day wear and tear. Im not on a building site getting it knocked around all day. It is just if it falls out of my pocket or slips from my hand. It just amazes me how one can last 2 years getting knocked and banged about and then another needs to be wrapped in cotton wool to make it until the end of the day.

Sounds like you just need a decent case

There used to be a builders mobile phone, that had thick spongy galvanised rubber on the outside plus force and compass - mine survived for years and was great when going hiking etc. I eventuall broke my leaning back on my a chair and putt the chair leg through it - that was the one thing it couldnt survive

Yes, mobile phones are too fragile to handle. We have to take care of them. Why dont you use a protective case for your smartphone? As far as i know there is not a single phone that can survive from that height. Just sell your broken phone and buy a protective case for your next phone.

There are plenty of mobiles that you can buy that can survive drops and have been designed to withstand drops and bashing about

Have you considered that there's nothing wrong with the phone? you just need to change the user ;)

Its fine now I have a phone that doesnt break just by looking at it.

My current phone has dints all over around the side from all the drops but it has held firm. You just need a screen made with gorilla glass and all is well in the world.

Motorola G5 plus - funny as I said in the first post I would never buy a motorola again, but as it was just the screen and this seemed pretty cheap for the spec, I figured it was worth it. It has lasted 8 months and been dropped maybe 5 times, no cracks (a few dents) and works fine.

My wife and I have the Moto G6 Play. Very sturdy and reliable. My wife drops hers all the time just in the supplied silicone case w/ tempered glass screen protector and has never had a problem with it.

Cases help save the phone, yes you are right screen repairs are way too high, the newer moto has 5 layer gorilla glass, but gorilla still breaks, chassis can get bent in your pocket and then create pressure on the glass, so the lcd under it breaks, so you might have nothing on your screen but your phone still works, moto g3 old phone but had amazing screen, totally smashed still use the touch screen even though unless you left cast on you have no idea wtf your pressing lol moto g5 gorilla breaks but lcd still can work,

Try searching for RUGGED phones, even CAT, as in the bulldozer company make phones

You can buy rugged cases as well.

But in general a good case and extra glass can help save the actual device, that and not punching, throwing, sitting on it, chest shirt pocket better than ass pocket, but course you cant get to it as fast..

What can be most weird though is you can throw them, hit them etc nothing happens, then it falls a few inches and kaboom.

Samsungs making indestructable leds and Samsung & Huawei have folding phones out,

Its like a tablet but folds up into a phone, i dont know the prices, but bound to be high for now.

Ok did not see page 2...

If you go tesco extra they have g5+ cases on sale for about 2 quid, but might not be in all stores as they old now, thus why they in the bargain box somewhere near the tablets in most stores.

G5 also has multi user capability, where Samsung and many others do not, so you can install multiple versions of the same apps or games(which can be very handy), or set up business and home or family users etc, and install things in each, uses a lot of storage though but its good for separating things or having a test app area, as google play is full of crud

Start a new user, download the apps to there, test it if they crap or cause damage, delete user, and your original user is untouched.
