Hi
I have searched the forum and there are a couple of posts from 08/09 but does anyone have a recent recommendation for a company that can provide a local number of choice?
Thanks

Got mine with my VOIP package from soho66. They do local numbers, geo and non-geo.

For the cost of a Starbucks cuppa each month, a custom number (geo or non-geo), forwarded to my home/office/mobile.

We can provide you with numbers and call forwarding for every region in the UK. £2 per number per month.

If you answer the calls using a VoIP telephone, that's all you pay; if you need to forward your calls to other phones it costs 1p per minute to forward calls to a landline, 10 ppm to a mobile.

If you are a company selling in a specific locality I'd go for a local number. If your customers are across the whole UK I would use an 03 number as they will be included in all inclusive call plans whereas 08 numbers will not. Avoid 0800 numbers as this can put many people off who use mobile phones and are charged for 0800 calls.

Colin aka CJD aka Voipfone rock... I have my landline # with them and couldn't be happier... £2 a month and I can either use it via VOIP, redirect to another landline or my mobile.

I used to use Call Navigator a few yrs back, think they then changed their name to YAC.

Worst experience I ever had, an absolute rip-off. I switched back to a mobile about 12 months ago and it's the best decision I ever made. Some may think it looks slightly unprofessional but in this day & age I don't think it matters too much, so long as it wont cost the caller a penny.

Another thumbs up for www.voipfone.co.uk - I've tortured them periodically 'threatening' to move across to voip, but never taken the plunge (their patience and hand-holding is impressive though, each time I randomly email an enquiry), but everyone I've recommended them to has spoken very highly of their service (and their price).

I can vouch for voipfone if you're looking for a simple, easy to use service.

I buy all my numbers for my company from AQL, who are the provider, we have our own phone system set up to handle everything else.
