Is my Sig Really Maxed Out?

Can someone please have a look at my sig.

If I add just a few more characters, it tells me that I have reached the maximum 300 including hyperlink.

As the 300 character limit includes any BBcode, I'm afraid it's a yes, your sig is maxed. Here's your code:

All the fonts, colours, sizes and styles add to the weight of the sig code. It also looks like you've got an email link in there that isn't anchored to any text? (I've removed your actual email for privacy!)

I personally think the code limit should be increased for paid members. I often find myself short by just a few characters, 350 would be ideal and wouldn't increase the size of the sig by much at all.

I agree 100% - 300 characters is a bit limiting, as I want some text not just links

Thank you Darren. I did not realise that the coding was part of it too so I will put it right and will add more detail.

I was not my intention to start a debate on the advantages for paid members but I also feel that it should be increased for paid members but not too much though. I have been on other sites where the signature is longer then a newspaper article and it was really off putting.

Yeah, I found the button where it reveals the code and it seemed like it was hidding my last config where I used purple. Weird.

I was told by one of my Marketing heroes, Nagurski at Freeform, that I should have a variety of sentances and swap and change them around every so often!

I never really thought that much about my sig, seeing it just as a little 'audience gatherer' when you are bringing something new out.

Now's as good a time as any to ask - what should we be doing to make use of the sig on UKBF? Is there a 'best practice' the marketing guys would advise?

I thought we established that we are NOT paying for our Sigs Earl - they are merely a side benefit for the other things we get !!! Behave, as your 50p offer (whilst very generous) might get us all into trouble

That's a very good idea and something I've been doing myself for months. However you do need to make use of bold fonts and colours for the text to be noticed or it just blends in past the point of concentration when someone is browsing the page. Make the text itself noticable first, then the signature changes will be much more effective at grabbing attention.

I feel another blog post coming on via our website blog on how to best utilise forum signatures

Mine looks innocent enough but says it is at the 300 mark? Is that because of different colours or web links?

It's all the code that's in your signature, including that for the colours.

I'd personally suggest increasing the size to 350 actual signature characters. If not then 500 characters including code.
