How to swap links nowadays?

Hi,

Can anyone suggest ways to get good link swaps nowadays, or are we now at the stage where you basically have to buy links?

I've tried contacting webmatsers drectly through their websites after finding them on google. I hardly get a responce.

Posting here for some link exchanges is okay but it's not "easy" as I'd need to sign up to 20 forums every month or so for it to be effective.

Anyone got any ideas? What are you lot doing???

Thanks,
Andy

P.S. PM me if you'd like to swap links. I've got 2 pr3 sites and 2 pr2 sites. No link farms.

Today links are swap in so many ways, one is visiting someones website then look for their online subscription located in their directory. But before you exchange links with other website you must first do some research on what that website is all about, it if better is the site you wish to link with is relevant to what is yours.

I personally wouldn't bother with reciprocal link swapping. It simply isn't worth the time you have to invest in it unless it's a relevant and very well established website which will link to you. Keep it in your SEO strategy but don't devote all of your time too it.

Put the time you're spending now into building up quality content which can be used as link-bait on your site (via a blog perhaps). Then get yourself on many relevant forums and get socialising. Might take a while but eventually you will gain the benefits of natural linkbuilding.

I agree, its gonna give you very little benefit these days. It has been overused and now the search engine algo's can detect an obvious link swap. I would turn your attentions to more constructive link building such as one-way links and social media.

seo_uk I agree, the latest tried and tested google ranking enhancement methods have shown that swapping links is no longer beneficial.

It used to work, maybe 2 years ago, but times have changed and the SE's are wise to this type of link building technique.

link swapping is good for yahoo and msn but not so good for google results

anyway, you could find link exchange partners here:

but it's best to make relationships with webmasters of relevant sites and do friendly deals that will last. "a-b,c-a" (3-way) exchanges are better than regular 2-way (a-b,b-a) in terms of avoiding being auto-penalised by google for link schemes

I agree that 3-way exchange is better than 2-way for that reason, but I still rather choose getting reciprocal links because the trade links are easier to manage...

This an interesting thread. I've found it very hard work to get links for My Favourite Animals whilst at the same time constantly getting useless link requests for SillyJokes which ranks much higher. Sometimes I try and get them to link to MFA but all too often they are nonsense sites with no hope and no traffic.

I've even tried the Great Link exchange here but with absolutely no response from members. Very disappointing. I've even emailed old pals I've met along the eCommerce road and they've all ignored me. What's wrong? It's not like it's a dodgy site is it?

Perhaps I won't break my heart over getting links anymore. That's a relief.

Send me a PM and I will sort out some links to/from sites in my network. We have several hundred sites up and running so we should be able to sort something out if you want relevant links.

Thanks
Stephen.
