How Important is the URL for SEO?

Of course a brand name will rank. If you had the budget and the experience you could get "kazoodle.com" to rank for "pay day loans" but it just depends on how much work you want to do and the budget you have.

People keep saying about Brands, I only know what the brands I know about do because of massive marketing campaigns. Would I really know what confused.com did without a TV advert every 5 minutes?

If your in it for the long game, imo, branding would be better

I see keyword rich domains as a short term view.

If and when Google devalues keyword urls, there's going to be a lot of stupid sounding websites and it's the branded sites that'll end up stronger and i really don't see why Google should be given preference to these domains, solely based on keyword/s in there urls.

I would go for branding in this case. I think if you are marketing towards teenagers then having a brand name that's short, catchy and fun will serve you better. Also maybe go for something unique and have a logo/theme that's fresh and instantly recognizeable. Teenagers love 'the latest thing' and if they catch on to something and spread it via social you have succeeded.

Also having the brand name as your domain gives you options later on to diversify from core business without affecting domain relevance.

Yes, google needed a lot of TV ads to become known

I've been selling off a load of websites over the last few months and all of them outranked the keyword domains with ease. While the niches were low competition, some tried to compete, but failed. When you test like with like, keywords domains do not show any significant advantage. A decent link will outrank a keyword domain every time.

Clickhere.com is owned by a 'digital marketing agency', but they can't even get the domain on the front page for 'click here'...

Agree that some have keywords in the domain name but most are related to the brand or business name.

This doesn't mean that that keywords in the domain name are worthless, it just means they don't have as much influence as other ranking signals for competitive searches.

carinsurance.co.uk has zero chance of ranking as he has next to no links. Carinsurance.org.uk is in the same boat with 41 links...

I think if any of the sites ranking 2nd-5th bought the domain carinsurance.co.uk and moved their site there they would easily be 1st.

I would recommend using a rich keyword domain. Of course, you dont want to stuff the domain with keywords, but just enough. If not, as mentioned before making your brand known is key as well.

You can always sprinkle your keywords wthin your website content. Of course this is just one small aspect when it comes to keywords!

When have I ever argued anything other than an exact match domain, without hyphens, getting a benefit in Google?

And before you start on carinsurance.co.uk, no I don't expect an exact match domain with no links to rank ahead of an FTSE100 listed company running tv ads every 5 minutes and buying links like they're going out of fashion.

URL is very important in SEO because with the URL we can put the link of our company in any other sites and we can attract the people to visit that link of our site by SEO techniques. We have to take care of domain name, logo. we have to be consistence and be innovative.

Domain name and url are not the same thing.

All you have to do is look at the SERPs for just about any search to see that this is wrong. To test this I thought of a random term (sharp knives) and did a search for it. Have a look at the sites in top place and then tell me that the domain names (and URLs) are not helping them to rank.
