Have I done Something to Offend? ....

Just over a month ago I had some problems on another forum (a florist forum) which seemed to spill over onto here. It was all so horrible at the time and caused so much trouble (mostly over there) that I’ve had a tough time trying to get my head around exactly what did happen and why.

Gradually things are coming back to me and I know that for at least a couple of weeks some of the members became obsessed with a couple of posts I’d done about SEO. I could be imagining things but, since I started posting again on here some members who had previously gone well out of their way to help me, seem to be giving me a very wide berth.

If it’s because I’m just a complete nuisance then I totally understand. If however, something has been said or I have done something to offend then it really would help if you could let me know.

No it’s definitely not paranoia

There was a right hoohaa on the other forum and it did spill out onto here ...

It is possible that the members who were helping me so much have backed off for any number of other reasons but, I’d just hate it if I had upset someone over here in all innocence and not been able to respond.

No worries if people don’t want to post or pm either x

Sometimes people just get the huff and don't want to help no more.

Personally I will help anyone that wants to help themselves, if they can't be arsed to do their own research or take my comments on board then I am wasting my time.

So many want something for nothing, but there are people that generally do want help and have tried to do it themselves but not everyone is technical and understands the jargon.

Just keep posting and you will find those who generally want to help, and those that don't.

I get that paranoia feeling sometimes, I am convinced there is someone else in the room with me, then I realise I am looking in the mirror.

Keep posting and asking, I cannot answer any of your questions - but what has that got to do with the price of eggs.

I don't think you have much to worry about.

You just have to move on. And just learn from your experience. Don't let it get to you.

I have had serious argument with an individual on a forum, however, we both saw the light at the end of the day, that we were both taking it too seriously, and apologised to each other and moved on. We were both having a hard day that day...and I think we both took it way more seriously than necessary. I was lucky he was a genuinely nice guy. Just take a step back.

Unfortunately what happened did so because a handful of people panicked over something they didn’t understand. They then started PMing people in order to “warn” them about me.

I then came across a public facebook wall that the members thought was private … this was in their words a “witch hunt” and in all honesty would make a headline news story for any newspaper or blog, not so much for its content which was bad enough and did have its own merit, but more for the profile of some of those involved.

At this point they panicked even more (assuming they had given me my opening blog post) and spiraled completely out of control, causing absolute mayhem which they then also brought onto this and other forums. I tried to explain to them that I had no intention of using their story but they weren’t listening. Only they and me know who they are and although I would like it to stay that way, I would also like to clear my own name, especially over here.

As an aside, the people in question have also damaged my name completely within the floristry field, whether I am able to clear my name there remains to be seen.

I don’t want to tell the story btw because most (if not arguably all) of those members were, to a large degree, innocent and I would hate to potentially damage their reputation.

So .......... I would like to get over myself CJD … and Stretchy, I hear what you say about the spamming …

I’m hoping this thread will kill the lot and we can all move on. For my own part I’m pretty much certain that all those who need to see this thread will do, if they haven’t already.

So sod of the lot of ya and go and find some flea spray x

Lol. In a high profile forum with people of different level of skill sets, experience, traning, qualifications and personality traits, there is bound to be occasions when typed words are construed in a way you didn't mean etc.

Wouldn't it have been better not to dig everything up again, I know on a different forum where I have made waves in the past and was getting chased down the virtual hallways by my hate-club that it's better just to take time out and then return when things have calmed down, or at leats that's what we hope.

It's a sad fact that their are horrible people out their that want to destroy reputations and businesses, and we have all said things that we regrett afterwords - I'm no angel but you have two choices, (1) pick yourself up and shake off all the bad comments (2) take everything to heart and let other win.

I like this forum full of people with either the knowledge or the ability to learn. Or at least the guts to question what they are having preached to them.

I think, or perhaps hope, business people are united by the common goal of making money. Makes them more amicable.
