RETAILERS: What one thing have you done to increase customers?

If you own a shop what is one thing (or more than one) that has increased the number of customers over the long term - so not just a sale or special offer which generated extra sales in for a month or so, but you have seen a significant increase over say six months or a year.

And if you reply (either in a comment, or a direct message) then it would be great if you give a general location for where you're based (you don't have to say exactly where).

The 'retail' section i part of the marketplace and is there solely for advertising products for ale, and access is limited to paid members. This is the right section.
