Has someone watch an anime as a kid?

I didn't know Anime films were for kids. No one told me when I discovered them in my sixties.

I watched Akira and Ghost in the Shell as a teen and they were alright but I've never really got into anything else anime. I do really like some of the live-action genre films such as Death Note, Ichi the Killer and Battle Royale though.

Anime has not been around very long as a specific style of art animation, so it would be impossible to have watched it when older people were kids. I don't even know what manga is, as I have never heard of it - and I'm not going to Google it! EDIT, OK, I did, and have seen it and didn't even know that's what it was called. I think we called the style comics when I was a kid?

Yes Manga is Japanese for comics, Anime is Japanese for Animation. The words have become synonymous with the Japanese style of both, but that's now how they were originally used.

I'm actually still watching it. There are a lot of genres even for adults. Comedy, Thriller, Horror, Ecchi and many more.
