Happy Christmas emails - yes or no?

No, people are too busy and want their inboxes as empty as possible. If it's just a personal one to the odd person that you know well and have met several time then yes it is fine but defiantly not a bulk send.

Regarding reading them, same as above

What you could do is write a real card with an actual pen to the people you know well but are unlikely to bump into for a while.

I think were a bit late for that, Royal mail are not that good.

I have ended up sending some personalised thank you emails. I have already had responses from some. I think I will just do that each year.

I dont want to do cards, too much of a headache - buying them, writing them, posting them, its quite time consuming. At least with personalised emails, you can copy and paste part of it.

I used to do it but found it very robotic every year to basically send the same email. Haven't done it in a couple of years.

With that said some of the biggest companies in the world do send Christmas emails so maybe they know something we don't? Maybe it holds more value for some industries compared to others.

Again a bit late but no I don't want emails

1, Those i see over Christmas - no cards
2, Those close to me I am not seeing get a phone call

Money I would have wasted on cards (which just get thrown in the bin at the end of the day) goes to local charity every year - Christmas dinners for the homeless.

We used to do cards until about 10 years ago. I'd make everyone sign them, which was time consuming but the recipient knew we'd gone to the effort.

I'd say yes to an email, but only if it's personal or it contains some useful information such as opening times or shipping information over the break.

So basically nobody seems to really want a generic email from a company, but yet they all send one...
That is sort of what I assumed would be the case. I have had about 20 from banks and I did not open a single one of them.

I sent out about 15-20 personal emails, I had replies from about 5. I will see if I hear back from others but it seems like even a personalised one is not exactly great either.

    Q1:
Do you send Happy Christmas emails to customers?

    Q2:
Do you read Happy Christmas emails you receive?

I'm a bit late to this but to answer your questions.

    1. No, I dont send all clients a Happy Christmas email I wish clients Happy Christmas if I'm emailing them near Christmas.

    2. Do I read Happy Christmas emails - from clients yes (and I reply to them) from the numerous suppliers who send them - no, they go straight to my email bin/junk and I really hate being wished Happy Holidays.

You can't really judge impact by direct responses - especially if there's no CTA or direct reason to respond.

Like me, you are in the business of occupying a quite bit of their mind until they need you (or have a referral.

The secret is to stay in contact without being annoying or pushy.

I'd say personalised birthday cards are probably way up there, and personalised Christmas cards slightly less impctful - but that alone gives you 2 relevant touch points each year without really trying

How about a Christmas newsletter instead (just a thought) things to look out for in the coming months income tax tips, things too look out for that we may have missed in the grand scheme of things etc etc

Personally I always read the ones which come from the accountant ........ then add a little Christmas tree at the bottom 😁

Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas emails can also remind your audience of your holiday office hours, contact details, how to follow up on orders or answer a few FAQs, if this applies to your business then its a good idea to send one, if not, then do not bother.
