I listed a car on ebay and it sold. I could not make contact with the buyer so I entered into the ebay system:

7 days after the sale I lodged a complaint with ebay
8 days after they did not get a response I was free to relist the item.

Since, the car had attracted a lot of interest I decided to scale back on my advertising spend which was originally £71 all that ebay will credit me back is £20.

Seems to me a bit rich that they can profit when their system not only allows people to walk away from a bid but also that the ebay system takes 14 days to resolve when I could have sold it to an under bidder.

Commonsense, tomedictates, if within 48 hours of a successful bid having been made, if contact/ payment has not been made the seller should be at liberty to re-list the item and have a full refund of fees.

I've noticed that there are more non payers on Ebay than ever. I just don't get why some people bid, if they don't want an item. Ebay are cynically profiting from this problem.

However if you think Ebay UK is bad, I've just returned from Canada after 4 years. Ebay Canada is far worse for non payers.

Maybe something to do with the fact that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback. It makes it so easy for non payers to abuse the system, and the poor old sellers suffer. Absolutely ridiculous rule change. :|

With all the ridiculous policies ebay have introduced recently, and all the people who now say they hate ebay (myself included), I can't help feeling ebay are ripe for being knocked off their throne.

And I'm not talking about any of the myriad of auction sites that are developed as a hobby and have about 3 auctions on. But if someone like google launched an ebay-type site, well......

It has all been said before and nobody has ever tried to take them on

At the end of the day they provide a key thing that nobody else can give, Instant Exposure for your product/products, like it or hate it, they will be around for many years to come and they will IMHO never be knocked off their throne (we do not sell on eBay so I am not a massive fan)

You're right, I think it's inconceivable that google hasn't explored the idea, so they must have rejected it for some other reason.
