Looking for the best way forward please?

Purchased a Fiesta from a garage around 65 miles from me. From day 1 the boot didn't open. Due to the distance the dealer said take it somewhere local for a quote and they will speak to management regarding refunding me that amount. A local garage who i've used for 15 years and charge very reasonble prices.

They checked the boot button and actuator as I did as well and in the end it was the body control unit (not sending power to the actuator). One was ordered in for £30 second hand from ebay (keeping the cost down). A Ford programming tool had to be ordered for £20 which sounded quite tricky as programming was required. Total bill just under £200.

The dealer now isn't happy as a quote wasn't given first (just trying to get out of paying). I did tell them, button checked, not that etc. The part had to be ordered for them to test in which it worked. Old board has physical water damage. Main dealer garages now seem to be £100+VAT/hour which should have been £300/£400 in just labour charges.

The car dealer did also promise a decent amount of fuel on collection as part of the deal and I was sold the car with 10 miles in the tank, lol.

Surprise surprise, all the support is done via email. When you call up it just goes to the sales guys. They did also push for reviews before even leaving with my car so ile defo have to go and edit the reviews now to suit.

    Extremely frustrating.

It is all laid out for you in the Consumer Rights Act of 2015. Google AI or Chat GPT can show you the steps to take, but you have 30 days for the dealer to fix this - or you step back from the deal and get your money back.

Tricky one, collected the car and went straight over to have the car sign written :(

Frustrating when you run an honest business and people are running theirs like that.

They have offered a 50% refund for the repair meaning i'm out of pocket by £100.
