Anyone else getting daft requests with orders lately???

We keep getting request for freebies or complimentary goods with orders.

Just today a customer requested "please draw a dinosaur on the parcel, as I am collecting them"

Sounds like a great opportunity to differentiate yourself.

Our stationery supplier used to put handfulls on penny chews in with our deliveries - office staff loved it!

We sell products that are usually sold in multiples of between 1 and 6 (most commonly in multiples of 2 or 3) and we are getting more and more people asking for a discount if they buy more than 1!

Standard service: no dinosaur.

Good service: you draw a dinosaur

Going the extra mile: you attach a photograph of a dinosaur

And the ones who order/phone last thing in the day several hours after your cut off time when your parcels have all been collected asking your staff to drive to the post office with their parcel.

Would they ask an employee of Argos or Amazon to do this?

Lol at exclusivity comments!

I had someone email me this week asking what were my prices for pay per lead for accountants, how many had I sold in the last year and who I had sold to ..

I haven't replied to the email yet as couldn't think of a polite reply!

Answer with Custom artwork covers only come with a MoQ of 5, do you want the brown paper or the bigger invoice :)

A few years ago when sending out invoices in December, one of the team drew Christmas-trees or Holly leaves or Snowmen on the withcompliments slips that went out with them.

I remember an actual *written* complaint from one client in January about the "missing picture" demanding another with compliments slip was sent !

Ha - that's unbelievable! Although I try to never underestimate the pettiness that some people will stoop to any more it still surprises me.

Like a bloke who measured an item the other day and complained because our measurements were out by a few mm 'it isn't the same size as you state but it will have to do..'.

Nice to hear that the morons spread themselves evenly around other places as well.

I think that is half the problem, we do sometimes put in free sweets and now they expect it. We appear to be on a list of firms that give away free goods, as we do get alot of requests for freebies for charity events.

By the way, the best way to confuse a customer is to add a note saying "complimentary sweets included" and then forget to put them in.
They spend ages checking all the packaging etc and a small number then email back about it

We put a sticker sheet in every parcel. It's quite nice and has a variety of novelty joke stickers. People very rarely comment on it. I jsut hope their kids stick the 'eject button' on the fridge so they remember us another time.

I'd draw a dinosaur once or twice but if everyone asked for one we'd have to employ an artist - or maybe get a stamp made up - yes, that would do it.

Maybe I should send that request to Santander. I eventually got a letter after my latest complaint stating that they were sending a cheque for £70 as compensation. But the cheque enclosed was for £40! I sent it back asking them to send the £70. They phoned yesterday saying that they were increasing it to £100 because they cocked up the compensation letter.

Maybe I should just be asking for a dinosaur instead.

Speaking of strange requests, I had an order recently (paid online) which had a note attached saying as the recipient was ill, could I donate it by way of a refund?

That's not so weird; perhaps they wanted it in a 'real' measurement instead of that archaic nonsense. ;)

He could have just used google, but still...

I was watching something the other night, they were talking to the head gardener at Highgrove.

Her name was Debs Goodenough.

I was asked to draw a unicorn fighting a bear on the comments section from my customers customer when sending out there order. I was in a good mood and so fulfilled their request. My customer liked it and so did the receiver. Wouldn't make a habit of it but it doesn't hurt to do something out of the ordinary once in a while. I've got a picture back at the office.
