Crus Logo - Good or Bad?

Can I say personally I don't like it.

I had to squink and think to look at it and read it - I don't like brown and it has no obvious theme to the logo design.

Sorry.

I like clarity, 'snapiness', warmth and brand memorability in logos.

Is it meant to signify anything?

To me, it looks like a logo for a "trendy" business (clother or a bar/club).

In terms of readability I see "C", "no idea", "u", "probably s". However, I'm dyslexic so I'm probably not the best person to ask.

Surely that would make you one of the best people to ask if a logo is meant to be universal and recognisable

i like the logo, but like others have said. i had to squint to make it out and i also agree that the 'R' needs some work.

Thanks for the feedback,

I'm getting this nagging feeling that a highstreet girls clothes shop is using a similar rounded text, so I kinda prefer captain scarlet mental images popping to mind as that may be a little more butch!

I have tried to keep a very simple logo as Crus Ltd will not be overly public facing, being simply my wealth developement company, the brands I develop beneath it will be more 'front facing'.

There is a theme, hidden a little to well though I suspect. Originally the letters were negative cuts out of dark claret circles representing grapes, but I could not get the negative cut to work, that damn R. The colours fall into this scheme with a target dark claret, yet to be fixed, with a complementry yellowed cream background.

Thanks for your help and I am satisfied that this logo will prove sufficient, so the R will be sorted out and then the colours pantoned. Now where is that business card prinitng guy, time for a search of the forum!

I think it's OK, but not brilliant.

Would I be right to assume you did it yourself and you're not a professional logo designer?

It is sufficient, but I think you'd be better of making the investment to pay a designer to do one for you - as this is just 'sufficient' you'll be looking to replace it in about 6 months. I think you're better of starting off with the right logo than something that's just OK.

And, no, I'm not a designer!

Hi Duane,

I am much more programmer than designer, can feel like pulling teeth, I wanted to do this myself though as been a while since I have done a bit of original design work, instead of handing it down the chain.

For my tuppence worth, it is 'trendy' but to me this style must fit in with the product or service.

I still can't stop feeling that it looks like some of that alphabet breakfast cereal though. I think I'd best go now :wink:

When we were coming up with logo ideas, I created a logo based on circles. In my usual over-confident way, I thought it was great. While readers had to look twice to make out the letters, the geometric shapes were quite clever.

My wife took one look at this logo and slammed it as unreadable - and I trusted her independent assessment. My business partner, a lady with great business sense, came up with an idea that was far more relevant. I'm really glad we went with her idea instead of mine.

As I look at your logo, it's almost a case of deja vu. You've created something clever based on a geometric design; however, you have to look twice to understand it. Based on my own experience, you might want to soften the effect or even consider a different approach. A clever logo is not necessarily a good one.

But had you conceived the idea, or merely copied some of the 'crop circles' left by our alien brothers? :wink:

Isn't that pretty much the same as Bon Marché's logo? The color scheme's pretty much the same as that.

I like it though, not sure about the 'r'. Reminds me of my lovely logo :lol:

I would definitely go with this version. I still think of Captain Scarlet when I see the "S" and the "R" looks like an unfinished Pac Man but the overall effect works very well.

its not something i would have myself. but this is why its your logo about your business. have it how you like it, when people know your business they will recognise the logo and it wont matter what it looks like. :-)

Gawd! Nigel... now you've mentioned it, it does but I swear it didn't before you said something :? I think rotating the R is a step in the right direction (or left, as it was rotated anti-clockwise) but how about trimming a tiny bit off the tail of the letter nearest the bottom? Would that make it look less the 'e' it appears? even though I'm not sure it looks like an 'e' now or the 'r' that I thought it looked like over an hour ago!
Placing my thumb over it doesn't help as I find I now have developed a habit of tilting my head sideways whenever I look at my monitor.

Ray (come back Rubicks Cube, things were simpler then) :lol:

Does look a bit better now that eagle has landed and touched it - but I still don't like it. At first I don't know where to look and then my eye doesn't move of the 'R'. Maybe because the image is quite big :?:

And thinking about it, it wont look very good if it's printed small, say on a letterhead. I think it's better to go for a symbol.

I bow in reverence before thee!

Its the thing that gets me with the graphics stuff, I can get part of the way, but like Claires wisdom teeth, that last 'giant leap' is pain no matter what I do. It can be frustrating seeing a touch solve something that had been such a pain to try and get right.

Eagle I owe you one, I will clean up the R, shorten one of the legs to bring it within the circumfrence and get them the right thickness.

final adjustments made to the R and the U as well as went out of balance.

I think its looking much better, let me know what you think.
