Hi Katherine, a great way to promote your business would be on notjustanywedding.co.uk - a wedding directory exclusive to the 5 postcodes of the north east. I think the first three months listings are free and prices after that are very reasonable. Have a look at the website - I can put you in direct contact with the website owner if you have any questions.

I'm Katherine, and I'm a brand new start-up business 10 Carlton. I've posted in the main "Introductions" forum, but I'm slowing working my way around the website and I've found the North East section!

10 Carlton is a freelance/virtual PA/event organising company based in the North East, offering a first class bespoke service to companies/individuals looking for administration assistance, whose needs are possibly not large enough to warrant a full time employee. (Website coming very soon!).

I'm wanting to join a good UK business forum to hopefully learn as I go along about developing your own business and also to hopefully make and maintain some good contacts over the coming months through some of the forums on offer.

Any marketing tips on new business start-ups would be great, and it would be useful to hear of any local networking events too - so any information anyone can offer, would be really appreciated.

Hello people from the North East - I used to use this forum a lot but haven't been on for well over a year, but now I am back! If I can take a moment of your time to introduce myself; my name is Richard Ayre; I'm Director for my own company DRA Solutions Limited although there is more chance you have heard of DRA Electricals. I began the business in 2009 and registered in 2012; we're limited and VAT registered. I provide a PAT Testing service throughout the UK but mainly in the North East with over 500 clients. I'm not going to preach about PAT Testing - I've done enough networking to know how much people don't want to hear about it but I am here if there are any questions to be asked. I'm also one of 4 directors of the national organisation, the PAT Testing Network. In my spare time (which there isn't much of) I enjoy supporting the Toon, going to the Theatre and sitting in a quiet room, in the dark doing nothing!
