Christmas SEO

Many clients have now put plans in place for the festive season and it is becoming apparent that some have been planning it for months.

Have you got plans in place or have you already completed the majority for the festive season.

I also note that "christmas sales" has already seen a spike and Halloween isnt even over yet?

What have you done and how long have you been planning your SEO for christmas?

I look forward to hopefully starting a good thread.

Just wanted to say it is early to see the sales for christmas start - what happened to tough economic climate hey? Fact is people are happy to still put it all on credit - nothings changed.

I think you probably would have wanted to start your seo push for Christmas a few weeks back from now to be honest just because of how damn competitive it gets.

In my opinion you need plenty of articles circulating regarding products and services you do, a few press releases, some solid keyword link building and a nice well thought out PPC campaign.

Anyway I look forward to seeing how this thread develops!

For xmas your campaigns should have been done in February march at the latest.
No point getting there in December. November is the tip for deliveries.

I agree on dates for Xmas campaigns but do you not find that many think do it now and I will be in time??

With seasonal clients I sit down right at the start and lay out the dates
christmas, easter, mothers day etc, then we work on them all year round. Oddly enough Christmas comes every year pretty much at the same time

Absolutely. I don't like to stop doing seo lest I fall behind! In fact the least we do is in the 3 months run-up to Christmas as we're busy on production issues.

We have a custom news feed that we run from around May to around about now each year, which works very well in terms of targeting multiple long tail terms and helps brings us generally in Google.

You're right, christmas seo and ppc campaigns should be thought about early on in the year. Its going to get very competitive around about now so the more prepared you are the better!
