Jon, please dont joke about members clicking on adwords. This would breach theirs T&Cs and they have been known to withhold revenue based purely on a light-hearted comment like yours! (Also, for future reference, this forum will run fine on Windows servers. trustnetworkers.com (which is currently dead apart from the booking machanism - awaiting me to finish the upgrade) runs this forum on Windows).

Ozzy, it's not just session variables, although that is a part of it. There'd be little point modifying this forum to eliminate query strings if it's going to be replaced. But if I were you I'd ask the new developers to a) make sure all posts on this forum will be imported to the new and b) the new forum will eliminate querystrings - it really will make a huge difference to natural search results.

Duane, relax...is anyone stupid enough to do that?...or are you worried people may generate wasted clicks for your ad... now come on...I'm not even an expert in that area so my comments won't be taken seriously. If I said jump, will they?

I said PHP would be BEST on linux, did not say it wouldnt work on Windows. I have a PHP site on Windows

LOL, I'm not worried about clicks on my ad - especially as there are no adwords here any more.

I'm just saying that Google have pulled Adwords accounts in the past and not paid out what is owed based on alleged "fraudulent clicks" - it really doesn't matter if anyone does it or not, google have closed accounts based purely on comments like that which they see as inciting people to click. I think you must have misunderstood what I was saying

As for wether PHP works best on Windows or Linux - that's debatable! (and no, I don't want to have that particular debate!)

I can see where you are coming from...

I couldnt really debate the PHP issue anyway because 2 of our developers say PHP best on Win. I would not know so I stick to what I know best I prefer ASP anyway...

So I guess if MS perfer to use UNIX for the reasons detailed then PHP would be best placed on the best OS.
