Site Update

I've just completed a massive site update today, which was jumping about 20x version updates on the forum software. So things did break.
I think I've found all the major breaking items with a few broken images sort of stuff still to tidy up, but I'm creating this thread for anyone to tag anything they find broken that will need fixing.

Hey Ozzy,

Nothing broken as such for me so far, but it looks like I've lost access to the "dark theme".

I think it wasn't officially supported anyway, but it does make a big difference to the eyesight.


Any chance it could be restored in the future?

Nope. Latest version of safari on my iPhone. When viewing using any browser in phone mode on a desktop it’s the same. Caches cleared and everything.

In desktop mode I see my profile link but no lighting flash. Still don’t know why this even exists, it just takes me to questions.

If I’m having issues I suspect others will be as well.

I am aware of the site having intermittent failures of "An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later."

This is being investigated. This is only temporary and if you wait 5-10 seconds and refresh all is fine.

I have got a couple of "An unexpected database error occurred. Please try again later." messages when browsing through the site, will keep an eye out for any other pesky bugs!

I see the same as fisicx on completely up to date android and chrome.

Mobile site is broken (recent posts drop down does nothing and can no longer select between questions and forum posts), the mark all read button has gone, frequent database errors and error when trying to reply.

The drop-down has been identified; it is an issue on Android devices with a slightly narrower screen only. I have a fix for Claude to apply soon.

@Ozzy one rather annoying thing I am experiencing is that if I'm not constantly on the site, next time I access it I am presented with the "cloudflare challenge", even though I passed the challenge before. I am talking about coming back after, say, 1 hour.

On this machine I have a fairly old FireFox version, so it could be that, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Ideally, one should experience the challenge once and then cookies should be set so that it is unnecessary to be challenged every time.

Yeah, that is going to take longer to fix... The Google Cloud Project that had that API key assigned to it got accidentally deleted (by me) when everything was handed over to ANNA, and I didn't realise that the Google project was still needed.

The latest patch of Xenforo is heavier on the database than the previous version, so we have upgraded to ElasticSearch and it's currently rebuilding all the search indexes, which is going to take a few hours to complete.
In the meantime I do need to also keep the recaptcha live via Cloudflare to block the bots

My issue is the size of the screen/fonts seem to have shrunken, so I am manually having to enlarge my page every time I use the site - almost like it's gone to vertical mobile size, rather than horizonal PC?

Full weekend of cyber attack fended off. New rate limiting rules applied, and new firewall configuration applied, and now monitoring.

If anyone genuine gets hit by a rate limit message, please let me know here.
