Centre Parcs are apparently asking guests to vacate the premises for 24 hours on Monday, midway through week long holidays so that staff can be 'part of this historic moment'!

The practicalities for people who travel from around the country don't appear to have been considered.
There's also zero consideration for the thousands of people vacating the premises who will be travelling instead of being 'part of the historic moment'.

I'll stick my neck out here and say it was a PR decision.

Be seen to do the patriotic thing, but allow your customers/media decide on what you actually do.

Apparently Center Parcs suggested that holidaymakers find local accommodation for the night they were turfing their customers out. Do you think that anybody around the table put their hand up and told the CEO that local accommodation would likely be shut down as well? I've had several meeting room moments where similar thought processes abound and I've been the last to speak, in most cases ending with the sack a few months later.

Footnote: Elveden Forest CP holds 4216 guests. There are 5 hotels in Thetford, the nearest town.?

Real question is have any staff been asked if they are willing to work Monday, Might well find some staff who are willing to help and offer basic meals etc

I suspect it's more of a case of them being asked to open to provide facilities, much as they are doing for the long queue to pay respects.

We're closed, not because we want to be or because I think we should be but simply because everyone else is on the same bandwagon to oblivion that they cannot see.

Sure, it hasn't happened for 70 years but we cannot keep shutting the country for meaningless this and that. heck, the old biddy had us closed earlier this year for no good reason and is Charlie going to have us closed again when he puts his King hat on ?

The bloody government virtually shut us down for 2 years for nothing more worrying than flu and now we're trying to get back to some version of normal, they close us again just when we're facing an Armageddon of utility price rises.

As for Centre Parks, I hope they go bust after this PR debacle. They deserve to.

Yesterday was a great success for us. We kept the shutters at half-mast (to let a little light in) and ploughed through a heck of a lot of admin and tasks that had been pushed along the road for weeks, some of them months. The phone didn't ring once and considering we were shut from the outside looking in we were not bothered either.
