123print or vista print?

I`m after some cheap business cards, really just throw away items until we rebrand soon.



which if any would you use?

Vistaprint are good for the freebies,and go for the cheapest option in postage,it does not take as long as they say to get there.

Although a word of caution,they can be a tad on the aggresive (marketing wise) side thereafter.

Vistaprint are OK but use a "disposable" email address when you sign up or they will spam you to death.

I have used VistaPrint, they where quick and they are good for throw away business cards. But like every says they do e-market to a inch of there lives.

cheers, thanks for that, just another quick question - how do I find out if a widely used picture (I want to use for the back) is copyright?

I have used Goodprint and they have been good quality. They are always having offers on business cards so it may be worth a Google search for a discount code.

If you have your own artwork they want you to present it as a Portable Document Format (PDF).

Depending on what software you are using you may be able to go to the file menu and export as a pdf - make sure it is on high res setting though!

As I recall you can't have a picture on the back of the cheepies, that's where they put their logo.

Vistaprint don't print anything on the back of your cards, if that's what you mean.

I really thought Vistaprint were good. Make sure your images, if you are using your own, are High Resolution though. They won't print low-res ones, which is good - the automated system does tell you before hand, which, in my experience, is better than other printing services who will just go ahead and print low-res images, without telling you.

My Vistaprint biz cards were excellent; so much so I recommended my brother use them (although the constant emails do irk me somewhat!).

Vista do print on the back of the cards,although you will pay extra.

Fisicx,they do not put a logo on the back either,even on the freebies :-)

The quality is excellent compared to some i have bought in the past :-)

I still maintain the postage is a complete rip off tho,well,the express delivery is.

Vistaprint is a nightmare. You will automatically be signed up to other offers, or you won't be able to pay for the biz cards.

Once you sign for the cards, you're hooked into third party offers you cannot cancel easily. Repeat, you must agree to these offers, if you want to go ahead with the card order.

Once they have your card details, they will take £10 per month - its very tough to cancel, even though they make out its simple :rolleyes: Complaining to Trading Standards or Consumer direct won't help either...

Better to just buy from a retailer for £30..

I'm running out of cards so when a Vistaprint offer was a freebie with an Amazon order - £1.99 for 250 cards - I thought I'd might as well have a pop at it.

They are a complete nightmare - by the time I'd got to the end of the very long cycle of marketing sh1te they push your way the price was up to about £15 with p&p and - get this - £4.95 upload fee! They want £4.95 to give them the bloody image to print.

I deleted the lot out of principle. I'll probably be spammed from here to the end of time. Bunch of bandits.

Vista print realy are a one hit company - you will only use them once - many of my clients have come back to me for printing after being involved with them. I think as a throw away product they are great...but like others have said why make your product or service look cheap...a good card or leaflet will add value not take from it.

Argggghhhhhh....vistaprint!
I need 5000 double sided postcards printing for a show and magazine insert......urgently. I put an order into vistaprint about a fortnight ago, pament and design accepted. I was expecting notification any day now to say that my parcel had been dispatched. Instead, I received notification today from paypal that vistaprint had refunded me, and a short email from Vistaprint to say that a refund had been processed....with absolutely no explanation as to why. :|
I've now got less than a fortnight to get something else organised. Please feel free to pm me if you can help me out of the soggy steamy stuff I appear to be in.:redface:

Just received an offer from Goodprint - 70% off business cards with code AMP53. No tie ins like Vistaprint. Hope it helps someone out.

Can I say that anyone who gives me a "free from Vistaprint" business card instantly looses any credibility in my eyes.

If you can't invest £40 or £50 in yourself why should I invest even a minute of my time listening to you. If you don;t value yourself then nor do I.

Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh and I'm sure not everyone thinks the same. But perhaps others do.

I didn't get my business cards free from Vistaprint: I paid for mine and there's nothing about Vistaprint on my cards. I'm guessing that the Vistaprint stuff on the back of cards is to do with when you get them free.

I have to say that the idea that 'anyone who can't invest in business cards is not worth my time' is one that I don't agree with. A lot of people (myself included) are going self-employed due to the recession as jobs were (and still are) hard to find at the moment. With little help from the government, investing in business cards may be the last thing on someone's budget, when considering other business start-up costs.

Surely everyone here can empathise with others' problems when starting up when it comes to finance?

Yes they only write that on the back of free ones.

It is true that you have to be careful where you invest your start-up money in.m But I would say anything you are using to promote yourself to potential clients isn't where you should be cutting back. You can get properly printed cards form as little as £20 and good ones from £40 (for about 2,500).

My thoughts are that if they have cut corners here where I can see where else are they? I'm sure you would be even a little put off buying a service of someone with out £20 to their name??

I'd rather no card then free vistaprint ones.

EDIT - Also Pete from minuteman is brill!

I had Cards from Vista once..never again. Just spend the cash and get some good quality cards knocked up. It will speak volumes for your business. Look at the offer From Neil Digital 20 pound for 250 on 400Gsm paper, Now that is good quality.

P.S even though we do offer printing I have no trouble in recommending other company's as it is obvious some people need things cheaper than others (No problem there btw) so if it helps people and someone is cheaper than us then I will recommend them :).

No-one is particularly impressed by business cards. (Well, no-one with a brain). I'm looking at a collection of a few thousand - I don't want see a totally naff one but after that, so long as I can read it and it contains the info I need that's fine.

The biggest companies have very simple, plain cards - quite often only one or two colours - on fairly slim card.

My current cards are a bit too flash for my liking. They're glossy on both sides which was a bad mistake as the people that you give them to can't write on the back of them to remind themselves who you are or what they've promised you.

They also skid frictionlessly across polished table tops and straight out of the window. Which at least gets a laugh.

I never said I wanted them free, speed was more important.

Cheap is good because we use them as scribble pads, making lists etc and usually leave them lying about when we leave site (think about it!).

but thanks anyway, we`re all sorted now.

Surely if you've got all the necessary info on your cards including name, company, what you do and full contact.....and a photo...there's no need for anyone to write on the Back! To me not printing on the back is a waste of good space.

why would you want a throwaway business card? im not sure i understand this sort of thinking, are business cards not a direct reflection for your quality?

personally i hate vista prints free cards simply because they are nasty and they make any business person with them look cheap.

Not sure why people here are bashing vista print I have used them and there service is exellent. The people that are saying you get alot of marketing emailed are talking rubbish.

I have bought alot of stuff from them and no I dont get spammed by them.
Vista print offer alot of special offers like free delivery you just need to know how to use google its not hard.. :)

i have purchased cards from vista print before they are ok you can get all your info on them my only issue is when they cut them they dont always seem to be perfectly straight. I would not give them out to customers who i would class as wealthy i deal with property developers etc and would not hand one to them but for o.a.p customers etc they are fine to give out to all they are interested in is the fact it has your number on. They could do with being a bit cheaper with delivery they seem to do deals like spend over 30 quid and get free delivery but you dont always want to spend so high, and they do spam the hell out of your email.
All in all they are just ok nothing to get hard over lol.
