We're having an extension built and the electrician has plumbed in data(?) cables to several parts of the house, so that we can have wired internet connections throughout, rather than relying on wifi. (Although we will still want wii-fi for phones etc.)
This evening, before he left, he said I should call BT and
"...ask for a 10 way router [our current router is a BT home hub 5 with 4 yellow ports at the back] as he has made a patch panel."
I'm not 100% sure what he means.
All the purple data wires "arrive" where my circuit board is (and where he intends to put the patch panel) - is this so they can plug into the back of the router?
Is this the sort of thing I require:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-...qid=1455655014&sr=8-1&keywords=10+port+router
Do I keep my router, have the phone line going into my router and a wire from my router to the above?
Sorry if its a dumb question - it seems both logical yet confusing at the same time!
Many thanks
Jeff
