Domain name for sale.. need advice!

Hi,

I recently purchased a domain name and parked it on sedo.co.uk just last week. (topbestwebpages.com

I've been getting constant emails from an investment company in america who wants to buy my domain.

Their company message:
Investing in domains is a profitable business and our company is
interested in good and easy-to-remember domain names.

I read up on a article somewhere on the internet that if you get emails regarding the sale of your domain, it must be real value to that person.

The reason I bought it was because I search the words on google and it showed - 305,000,000 results.

It's quite an easy word and millions of people search for it every day I'm guessing.

I randomly put a $2000 asking price on sedo but now I'm thinking.. how much is it really worth.

---- So I'm basically looking for some advice on how to value it and how much to sell it?

Oh right .. so if there was less results.. would it be worth more? I thought the more results.. the more it's likely to be searched for. This investment company is quite adamant though, dunno what to do.. I just bought it for fun lol.

Hmm I'm not sure about that, it depends really on what the domain words are.

words like sex.com or toys.com were purchased and immediately parked on sedo but still sold it for around $400,000 without any pr or site rank.

I guess people are after easy to remember words rather than how good its seo ranking is.

Your domain is worth no more than you paid, sounds like a scam email, the domain is not great by a long shot.

That's not true. Your domain is worth what other people are prepared to pay for it, not what you paid for it. toys.com is a perfect example. No doubt it was bought for the basic price of a domain (couple of pounds) 15-20 years ago. It's worth a fortune now, irrespective of whatever website is now using the domain.

 

Your domain has no search traffic ,the individual words may be of a little value SEO wise in certain area's ,but I would not consider buying it for 5 pence.Sorry.

I just bought it to test out domain parking. Although I agree with J-Wholesale.. it depends on who ever is willing to x amounts. I recently needed a niche word for my site but it was taken.. but the guy was selling it for over $10k which I wasn't that desperate for. It doesnt make a difference if it was first ranking on google either.

Just recently toy.com was sold for about £3million because its a specific 1 word domain which is highly sought after by toy sellers.

The person who bought Toy.com probably wanted it for branding purposes and not for ranking.

If I was selling toys on the internet I would whip there bottoms with £3 million.
