Starlink or other satellite

I travel all over Scotland and now recently down into northern England.
I am a small design and make business, making gifts for the tourist industry. Tourists/ day trippers are my main customer from April till September at events like highland games and agricultural shows. By their very nature they are in the countryside with very poor phone signal for card payments. Several thousand people in a field all using social media/ phoning etc means very often I cant take card payments.
I did meet a trader at a recent event who had a Starlink satellite dish and he said they were absolutely brilliant and had got a second one for his rural house.
I have looked it up and its currently £449 plus £85 per month that it is used. It would soon pay for itself due to missed sales so I am not worried about the cost really. As I am out in a gazebo most events, having direct line of sight to the sky wouldnt be an issue.

Has anyone used one and got any thoughts? Are there alternatives out there?

Yes I have used Starlink on a rural farm here in Devon a few times and it's really fast and a good price/monthly payments for what you get

Not used it personally but have a friend who travels and attends events across the UK after losing as he put it “thousands in lost sales” due to not getting a signal he went down the Starlink route this year and not looked back, loves it

That sounds like a good purchase then. Even wifi at one big international event is a joke. They bring in a big tech company to do it and what a waste of time!

The Rempstone Steam Rally declared itself a cash only event as they are so rural there was no good signal on any network. Any trader that had one of these would have cleaned up as half the crowd ran out of cash really quickly.

I went to an event like that. The cash machine charged £1.50 per withdrawal and ran out after 2 hours.

Traders and punters were suitably annoyed.

What’s worse is they didn’t even tell anyone it was cash only.

You might be able to set up a system where you could resell access to the signal and cover some of the costs!
