Does anyone think either of these domain names are worth much more than the NIC fees?
seo-company co.uk and seo-consultant co.uk

yes they have a small value as SE see "-" as spaces
searchs 33.000 for "seo company"
3.700 for "seo consultants"

They'll definitely be worth more than the NIC fees Duane but you need to let the most likely interested parties know about them. I'm not sure if Sedo sees many seo folk but it's worth a try and likewise, what about making some of the seo forum community aware of them. New seo'ers are popping up everywhere these days so you might find lots of interest. Good luck with them anyway.

Ta, I'll stick them on Sedo and see what happens.
www.ukstartups.com is another domain I have, It currently redirects to another site - but I might see if the domain itsself attracts any attention

Forget sedo - you should be able to get more than the NIC fees for seo-company.co.uk. I'd certainly consider buying it if I want to push on SEO referrals from Google, especially as Google is giving a lot of weight to keyword domains at present. I'm sure another SEO company would consider buying it for a few hundred or even a few thousand.

Both are good domains which you could probably get a bit of cash for. As you would be targeting SEO companies to buy this I would probably try and build up a website on these for a couple of months first. If you can gain a couple of hundred links to the site the domain should become more valuable to buyers.

100% it depends on what you put in it and quality of links you get (much like any other domain). Add good content, get good links, and the keywords in those urls would give you another:
1. Boost in serps
2. Increased Clickthrough (probably)
3. Increase chance of anchor text links when people just use your url to link to you

In the end it's all about the content and the links that link to it (and from it 
). Just putting up a keyword rich domain name isn't going to beat off competition from a site without the keywords in the domain that has been heavily search engine optimized and marketed.
But having these keyword rich domains if you are going to heavily market the site could be very useful indeed.

er... sorry... no - (I've had a few beers! - maybe I'm not making the point clearly here).
With any site it depends on the content on the page and the quality of the links that point to it. These domains can be easily beaten by other sites, without as well formed domains, that have been "optimised / marketed".
What I will say is if you intend to promote these sites heavily over the next year with good related content and excellent links, you'll have an excellent chance of good serps (but you'd have that anyway with GC/EL!) - these domains might see you get above an otherwise similarly optimised competitor, but if you rely on the domain name alone for ranking, it won't work (unless these domains have been registered for years and have a lot of backlinks alrady)

Actually I've just read your post again - and yes of course, they are worth "something" to somebody, as is everything, I was focusing on wether or not they were useful to you with no content on them.

Very good domains obviously can have great value, seo.com selling for $5m last month is a good example, but if your selling a domain with good search rankings and backlinks it's bound to be more attractive to the buyer.

Keyword domains have a HUGE boost in the SERPs at present.
The only trouble is, the site needs to be relatively established to do so - Duane, if you'd have had a site - no matter how basic - associated with these domain, then they would have been worth a lot more, as less work would have been required to develop them.
Maybe try somewhere like forums.searchenginewatch.com for a more targeted market, or else the marketplace at Sitepoint.

Thanks all. I have posted on a couple of forums and currently have them pointed to Sedo.
Assuming I don't get an attractive offer for them anytime soon I'll eventually find the time to put something on them. I've actually got quite a neat idea on what could be done with them, I just don't have the time to do it!

too true cobber domain names are low on my list of priorites for SEO

Post these on Acorndomains.co.uk for an appraisal for free. Don't waste money on getting appraisals - they are usually way off. I would say both, without content are worth around the £100 mark to a reseller and maybe more to an end-user if you can find one.
I do some domain broking so if you are interested in selling names let me know and I will ask around in case anybody is interested in them.
PS. I started using the Kashflow software a month or so back - great job!
