Rank Checking for UK Results

Not sure if anyone else has run into this, but finding website search rankings checkers that are accurate in the UK, reliably giving results day in and day out, which don't cost an arm and a leg, I've found frustrating, to say the least.

In the past I've tried several solutions from ones in the browser to desktop, now SaaS/cloud apps and been frustrated time and time again.

Some time ago I hopped from web app to web app, before finding SERPFox. At the time I tested it, they were updating several times per day. The rankings were fresh and pretty darned accurate vs the naked eye.

Not long after I became a monthly paying subscriber (I'm not an affiliate and don't get paid if you use it, so don't bother mentioning my name) it slowed to daily updates, meaning I'm usually 12 to 24 hours behind the curve. It's not ideal, but still is pretty accurate, and offers client URL's for reports.

SERPFox has those web software advantages - it runs, even if my computer doesn't, requires no proxy inputs from me and has little if any downtime.

I still use SERPFox for 800 or so keywords and haven't found a better web solution, yet.

A year or two ago I decided to bite the bullet and tried Advanced Web Ranking. Note that I am not an affiliate, have no links here to click, and really am not bothered whether you try their software or not. It's not cheaply priced, and it is well supported, if my couple of email enquiries to them have been any indication.

All I wanted was a rank checker, but ended up finding a bit of kit that was oh so much more. The icing is one thing, but the cake is what I wanted - to have it and eat it too in fact!

The fact I could dump a load of proxies into it, walk away and know that it was going to check the first 500 or however many configured positions for each keyword, using country specific search engines of my choosing was the cake.

In short, for a desktop app, I've been impressed.

There's a million other features I haven't bothered trying that range from social monitoring to organic competition analysis. This reminds me, I do need to see just what else it can do.

For a rank checker, it's like a Mac. Expensive, does what it should, and has a lot of horsepower behind that slick interface.

Not sure how good the things like SEO reports and analytics integration are, but sound handy.

Anyway, as above, I've tried a bunch, liked very few, well one stands out above the rest - AWR.

How about you? Got any great UK search rankings checkers that are fast, accurate and reasonably priced that you can recommend?

Haha. How can the other one be too expensive? Its only $100-200 depending on what features you need. And you say yourself the free one doesn't work properly, and gets you blocked from Google. Plus it doesn't have any way to store historic data etc.

To be honest Suzuki you're comments against me on this forum would be laughable if they weren't so desperate. You show no signs of a business and claim to live in a different country. I'm sure you're one of these stupid guys that sign-up to get rich quick schemes and talk just talking.

The facts are I only charge clients £500 per week and have no interest charging more based on yank built tools.

I don't post my websites or businesses publicly as I'm not looking for clients, and I have nothing to sell to anyone here.

Advanced Web Ranking isn't "yank" - its Romanian.

If you can't afford a $100 tool and instead waste days playing with a 'free' one that doesn't work, you should increase the amount you charge and actually pay for the tools you need?

Alternatively build one yourself. The problem being I don't have the time I need to do it as I do have a social life. Therefore the tools I'm building I can only do so on a Sunday evening.

Building it yourself is even worse. How could you possibly build a rank checker with the functionality of AWR? You'll end up working for < $1 an hour in comparison to just paying for it!

What ?!!?!?!!?!!?! Who cares about money?!?!?!!

It can be added to my portfolio :/ offer the service for free and generate the back-links from other users that use it and review it.

Not everything is about money :| this is what is wrong with the world! Greedy greedy people!

Sorry kid but you're living in fantasy land here.

You're not going to build anything better than AWR has done. At best you can build something like that non working one you were complaining about. So nobody is going to review it or link to it. And none of your clients are going to care about it.

Its absolutely nothing to do with greed. There is no point whatsoever in reinventing the wheel. Why do you think Webgeek/me/thousands of other people are using AWR? It does a very nice job, at a very fair price. Way cheaper than we could copy for ourselves. So we pay and forget about it, and spend the time we save actually making money...

To be honest your opinion isn't relevant to me. I had a client forward me an invoice of £60 from a web designer who claimed it took 1.9 hours to change an e-mail address in a contact form last month.

Most of you are just greedy and over the top in their payments. If I chose to write my own rank checker I'll do that.

Not sure what your point is. You'll find people in every type of work over charging people, or doing something idiotic. I heard of one guy who encouraged a client to dump his seo company without any precautions and he ended up without a website at all :D

Most of who? I don't sell SEO. I don't sell web design. I don't have clients.

Thanks for the lively diversion guys :)

Having written a few helper apps along the way, I can say that if I was trying to write an AWR clone or even stripped down alternative, it would take a considerable amount of time and effort. Yes, a learning experience it would be, but learning costs time and time is money.

If you're seriously considering developing your own, you might try starting with SEOPanel.in's free app that comes with softaculous installer. It provides a foundation that you might be able to leverage by adding a few customisations and end up with a usable UK rank checker. It's light years behind AWR, but would lend itself to getting a foundation knowledge of php/myql/rank checking hands-on.

Any alternative suggestions would be appreciated as well.
