Are you a Christian?

You are a fool, sorry but I'm past being fair to you. Chickens don't just stand there unless you lock them up. I happened to say this too.

Simple question to you DCE (although I bet you still don't answer properly) - do you think its cruel to lock up chickens (or any animal) in those conditions?

And actually, the original point was about Pecking Orders, and how cjd and Coddy are part of that order..... I replied saying just like you have Elders from the Jehovah Witnesses that "peck" you... (You skipped over that bit)

Absolutely

I have never been pecked by any Brother or Sister, they have always been loving, that's the difference, people in the world peck at each other all the time, but we all show love to one another, it's a lovely environment to be in.

No, you KNOW he won't answer and still you persist in pressing him. What is it with you guys? Can't you feel the bites as you are reeled in on the end of his line? :|

Answered the question with the word Absolutely!

Which means:- unquestionably, unequivocally, definitely.

What's your problem?

lmao you think he's some sort of masterful troll? So masterful he makes himself look like the shadiest and most untrustworthy member of any religion you could think up, while at the same time providing a huge amount of entertainment for people. :)

It is a great pity that this thread has almost entirely now focused on one person dce. The original question is concerning if you are a christian does it affect the way you do your business dealings. I would like to broaden this to say more than christians but does your belief affect your business dealings? My answer is yes I do not see how it would not. Perhaps you are a person of no religion but you will have ethics and morals that will guide you that were passed down to you from your parents, or that you developed as you grew into adulthood. You will still have values you will not be prepared to trade in exchange for a profit.

Equating ethics with religion?

There is a world difference between saying "I'm going to offer this old bloke a discount because I know he's hard up and can't afford to heat his house" with "I'm not going to employ this woman because she lives in sin with her boyfriend and they are not married."

Umm, yes, atheists have exactly the same values and ethics as believers. Go figure.

Not really CJD.

‘No God’ means no accountability to a divine authority, as well as “no objective values which Atheists are obligated to respect.”

Morality thus becomes relative, with each person determining his own standard if he chooses to have any.

No doubt such thinking makes atheism an appealing philosophy for some people.

Would you agree CJD?

Thats right.

Atheists take responsibility for their actions and desicions rather than third party out all their moral codes to a hypothetical god!

We don't need a mystical bogey man in the sky to make us do whats right - we just do whats right!!

Really is it you, that does everything right?

Is everyone else who is an Atheist doing everything that is right, or is that just you?

Are you speaking on the behalf of all Atheists?

Because even Christians don't do everything right, because we need help and direction.

Some people are good people, some people are bad people.

The difference is that religious people who 'do the right thing' do so because they fear their god or are trying to 'buy' their way into some kind of afterlife. Non-religious people who 'do the right thing' do so simply because it's the right thing and they are good people.

Religious people that act with evil intent, do so because either they are evil and not even a fear of their god is enough to stop them, or they do evil in the name of their religion (a good example of this is JWs killing children by forbidding blood transfusions). Non-religious people that act with evil intent do so simply because they are evil.

Let's look at the KKK.

A very nice example of Christian Fellowship.

Let's look at The Salem Witch Trials... yet another fine example of Christianity... you don't understand something... so you burn someone... Lovely concept don't you think?

And there's more

As soon as Christianity became legal in the Roman Empire by imperial edict (315), more and more pagan temples were destroyed by Christian mob. Pagan priests were killed.
Between 315 and 6th century thousands of pagan believers were slain.
Examples of destroyed Temples: the Sanctuary of Aesculap in Aegaea, the Temple of Aphrodite in Golgatha, Aphaka in Lebanon, the Heliopolis.
Christian priests such as Mark of Arethusa or Cyrill of Heliopolis were famous as "temple destroyer." [DA468]
Pagan services became punishable by death in 356. [DA468]
Christian Emperor Theodosius (408-450) even had children executed, because they had been playing with remains of pagan statues. [DA469]
According to Christian chroniclers he "followed meticulously all Christian teachings..."
In 6th century pagans were declared void of all rights.
In the early fourth century the philosopher Sopatros was executed on demand of Christian authorities. [DA466]
The world famous female philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria was torn to pieces with glass fragments by a hysterical Christian mob led by a Christian minister named Peter, in a church, in 415.
[DO19-25]

I expect a comeback similar to that of - but all the deaths/murders in there were many years ago, they don't happen now... Yeah right... you believe that?

All excellent examples of why anyone should become a Christian! You have such an compelling history regarding Christianity, it really really makes me yearn to be one... Honest!

*please note the hint of sarcasm, don't go asking me to become one... it will never happen.*

I agree with everything you say, but there is a misconception here, you are talking about false religion here, there is a huge difference.

Jesus said this-

(Matthew 7:21-23) 21*"Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22*Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?' 23*And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness.

So Jesus was pointing out the God does not approve of what they are doing either, the same mindset as you have.

Do all religions instill in their members a love that is so strong that it remains true even in difficult times?

What do they do, for example, when tension between worldly nations leads to war?

The facts show that by far the majority of them have been willing for their members to go out on the battlefield and slaughter their fellow believers of another nationality at the command of worldly men.

Do you think such a course is according to God's Word and really reflects the spirit of God which says you must love your neighbour?

Do you believe that it is in harmony with Jesus' command to "continue to love your enemies"?

No, so you are perfectly right what your are saying, and I understand how you feel, as I feel the same way, after all, I was in the Military and saw Priests blessing the military hardware, and the Clergy class doing everything to support the war effect.

You are right, it doesn't fit into what a true Christian attitude should be, does it, that's why Jesus said get away from me you workers of lawlessness, he does not approve either.

There is no misconception at all.

The KKK are devout Christians.

Everything else I posted was about Christianity.

That is no misconception whatsoever.

So now you are stating that all of the above had nothing to do with Christianity... Yet Everything I've written is based upon Christianity against the rest of the world's religious views... I.E. If you don't follow you die!

Simple as can be.

The facts show that by far the majority of them have been willing for their members to go out on the battlefield and slaughter their fellow believers of another nationality at the command of worldly men.

Incorrect. The facts show that throughout history Christianity has slaughtered millions of people for not following like lambs... Got nothing to do with "their fellow believers" whatsoever.

I said in the beginning false religion has done all these things, based on the traditions and doctrines of men, which the Bible prophesied would happen, so once again, we see that, what was written down in the Bible has come true, so it is impossible to ignore it.

The so called Christianity that you are talking about, has been totally changed, from what Jesus set up, in the first century, because after the early apostles died and there was no-longer a restraint, on what Jesus, put in place, there has been a free for all, attitude, which has totally adulterated Jesus early teachings.

What is contained in the Bible exposes the falseness of their practices, that is why it was translated into Latin, so no-one could understand it, and if you tried, to translate it, you were killed as Heretic.

But now we can read it for ourselves, so the truth of God's word is not hidden, and it was written in such away that if anyone tried to change something, it would stand out a mile, as the Bible is in harmony with itself throughout.

So it does make you angry when you see what has been done in the name of Christianity and supposedly in God's name, but that is soon to be sorted out, once and for all, because God is going to act, and clear any, and all reproach, that has been brought against his name.

Make sense, does it not?

the thing I've come to realise about DCE is this.

Any viewpoint, interpretation or statement that backs up his belief is fact and the work of god
Any viewpoint, interpretation or statement that contradicts his belief is false and the work of satan.

Sense, intelligence, rationality, reason - these are all irellevant when dealing with these people.

Thing's have been changed within the bible, as you well know, these things stand out to those that have eyes and a logical mind however those that do not... still believe the "good book" to be true.

No names mentioned.

What has been changed, that would change the teaching of Jesus, so dramatically, that would confuse us about what he is saying?

Also this prophecy in Daniel helps us to see that, they would not know what to change, as they would not have all the facts.

(Daniel 12:8-10) 8 Now as for me, I heard, but I could not understand; so that I said: "O my lord, what will be the final part of these things?" 9 And he went on to say: "Go, Daniel, because the words are made secret and sealed up until the time of [the] end. 10 Many will cleanse themselves and whiten themselves and will be refined. And the wicked ones will certainly act wickedly, and no wicked ones at all will understand; but the ones having insight will understand.

You see Daniel did not have a clue what he was writing about, he just did not understand.

The truth of the words he had written, were made secret and sealed up until the time of the end, so what could they possibly change, if they, who would be in the position to change anything, would not know what to change to deceive people, and do not think, the God's of this universe, does not have the power to protect his word?

Also the prophecy said no wicked ones would understand, and only wicked people, who didn't love God, would try and change what was written, so that is why, the real insight, into the real truth of the Bible, was made secret until these end times, they wouldn't know what to change, to counter the truth anyway.

But those having insight would, that's why, it's good to study the Bible, to find out these hidden details.

DCE, can I ask.....do you run a business?

If you do, please tell me you speak normal English to your clients, and not these hard-to-read ramblings from ancient texts, or from this weeks Watchtower or wherever?

Religion plays a big part of life in NI, and has been at the root of a lot of trouble....but we are all encouraged nowadays to use our own mind to decide upon any issue, and to try to be a little more open to other people and their opinion, rather than sticking to any dogma or forcing any issue based upon the teachings of that dogma.

Open minded is a better way, it allows more people to get on with each other, and limits conflict....surely this should be in line with any religious views?

This is the real reason Jesus got his name..

The three wise men arrived to visit the child lying in the manger in Bethlehem. One of the wise men was exceptionally tall and bumped his head on the low doorway as he entered the stable. 'Jesus Christ!' he exclaimed.

Joseph leaned over to Mary and said, 'Write that down, it's much better than Barry!

Yes I agree and they are not hard to read or understand, but wouldn't you liked to be told the truth, and understand why and how all the trouble has coma about, what it does, as Jesus said " The Truth will set you free" and he meant, free from confusion, about this wicked system, and you would know what the future holds for mankind, why things were happening, and a real hope for the future.

Also Jesus admonished his disciples to do this,

(John 13:34-35) 34*I am giving YOU a new commandment, that YOU love one another; just as I have loved YOU, that YOU also love one another. 35*By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves."

So the secret ingredient is love, love for your neighbour, love for your enemy, then there would be no conflict would there, so who is practising these things?

You seem very confused, someone just bit some ones finger off at a xmas function, is that the problem you are talking about, could not have been a true Christian, as he would have showed love, do get the point?

But, and this is an important point..... what you consider the truth is not always what others consider the truth.... after all, there are many many religions out there.

Being a little more open to others 'truth' makes everyone happier, limits conflict, and generally improves relations....... surely all religious people must want this, or a form of it?

Personally, I have seen way too much hatred based upon religion, and I have no faith other than what I see in front of me, so I'm not one you can convert. I do, however, agree everyone has the right to their faith, whatever it is, as a comfort thing....and I'd defend their rights to that without hesitation.

Your version of faith seems to force you away from the acceptance of other opinions, and that causes conflict....which defeats the basic message of any religion imho.

Just ease off on the quotes from Watch Tower, give us your own opinion, and we'll happily accept/debate it, whichever you prefer. You are entitled to your own opinion, as is anyone else.

The quote's come from the Bible, not the Watchtower, that is the the authority, what I say from my own intuitive does not mean a thing, even Jesus said that of himself (John 14:10)The things I say to YOU men I do not speak of my own originality; so our opinions are flawed to start with, as if they are not based on truth of God's word, then they are a lie, would you agree, are all the religions of the world telling the truth.

There can only be one truth, so we believing the lie makes everyone else happy, you are joking of course, whose the father of the lie?

This is what Jesus said to the Religious Leaders, back in his day:-

(John 8:42-47) 42*Jesus said to them: "If God were YOUR Father, YOU would love me, for from God I came forth and am here. Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth. 43*Why is it YOU do not know what I am speaking? Because YOU cannot listen to my word. 44*YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie]. 45*Because I, on the other hand, tell the truth, YOU do not believe me. 46*Who of YOU convicts me of sin? If I speak truth, why is it YOU do not believe me? 47*He that is from God listens to the sayings of God. This is why YOU do not listen, because YOU are not from God."

You see having the truth is important, because who's camp are we in?

Again, another reason why I simply can not believe in any religous body.

As you've rightly said, what "god" would penalise someone who can't read, i.e. a blind, deaf child grows up not knowing hardly anything around him/her is taught the basic "important" things to get on in life, who on earth has the right to punish them for not being able to read/hear about his holy and mighty be all n end all.

Or someone who is confined to a chair whom has server learning difficulties, they're unable to comprehend the basic standards of life, nevermind understand that if they don't believe in booboo they aint getting into heavthe fluffy white marshmellow land of joy!

Some god if he's going to penalise or punish someone that literately can't understand eh! (If of course you believe in that malarkey). ;)

You know he can't, he simply, physically can't. He has a real delusion, he's not making choices or debating for fun and learning. You guys really need to understand that he believes what he says. Accept it and move on for God's sake. Otherwise he'll stay here to the end of times. Really.

In about 8 bn years when our sun dies - unless we leave earth or get blown up by a comet or catastrophic volcanic event.

This is what God's Kingdom is going to bring about on earth, which Jesus give a fore-gleam of, when he was on the earth.

(Luke 7:21-22) In that hour he cured many of sicknesses and grievous diseases and wicked spirits, and granted many blind persons the favor of seeing. 22*Hence in answer he said to the [two]: "Go YOUR way, report to John what YOU saw and heard: the blind are receiving sight, the lame are walking, the lepers are being cleansed and the deaf are hearing, the dead are being raised up, the poor are being told the good news.

No, I believe in this, malarkey.

Time to bail, it's like a stuck record now.

We were just getting to the real, message from the Bible, it's not doom and gloom it's Good News, all the sick, to be made well, even the dead will be raised, does that not move you to rejoice, instead of bailing out.
