Vat return/VT cashbook

I don't understand? You just record the totals and VAT content if there is one.

TOTAL VALUE OF SALES AND ALL OTHER OUTPUTS EXCLUDING ANY VAT.
TOTAL VALUE OF PURCHASES AND ALL OTHER INPUTS EXCLUDING ANY VAT.

These are the two important questions. the total value of your sales, ex-VAT and the same for your money spent on doing business. Two columns. Have you got some special software already? If you use software, you usually just enter the amounts of purchases with or without the VAT as applicable and it produces the figures for the boxes for you. However - from July, you need special software or bridging software to link a spreadsheet to HMRC - I guess you know that anyway, so it's just one return the old fashioned way.

Cheap stamps on eBay

I'm sure people have various sources for selling genuine RM stamps on Ebay. There are also numerous sellers offering "unused" stamps which were formerly unstamped on mail. I believe RM is clamping down on this by instructing post office staff to handstamp new mail - I see this regularly every time I take in a batch of my pre-stamped packages.

When buying stamps on Ebay you might ask the seller if the stamps are genuine or forgeries. If forgeries it will go very quiet! But there are, in fact, actual forgeries listed as such for 'collectors' (ahem!) and to an untrained eye are as convincing as officials. I bought a book of 1st class forgeries last year and almost accidentally used it last week. Mint forged stamps generally command much higher prices than their face value.

Covenant on shares

Myself and my business partner , we are both directors . I don't want my partner to own all of the company even in the future (a promise I made to our employees )
If you're serious about this promise to the employees, rather than just intending it to be an oral promise that you can later renege on, then show you are serious. Stick the shares into a trust with you as the beneficiary and with the employees being the sole trustees.

VAT Invoicing numbering

Thanks Paul.

The two types of invoice are one off jobs and maintenance payment plans.

The job management system can't auto generate repeating invoices, but has it own invoice sequence and feeds that number and invoice to Xero.

Xero can handle repeating invoices, and when it generates invoices it uses its own internal counting system.

So the two type of invoice will be numbered differently ( and not over lapping )

Electric Scooters For Adults

Many of the world's largest cities are facing increasing pressure from environmentalists to clean up their act. With inner-city congestion and highly dangerous pollution at an all-time high, the problem is not going to just go away any day soon. Is it now time to relax the outdated laws concerning electric vehicles in the UK?

In at least 40 US states and in many European countries, the electric scooter is making headway as an alternative means of clean transport. With top speeds of around 25km per hour (15mph) and a travelling distance of around 30km (18.5 miles) on a full charge, the electric kick scooter is a serious contender for an alternative short distance inner-city mode of transport.

If the government are prepared to take action against congestion and inner-city pollution then it's time they took note of the growing concerns of those who live and work in these toxic environments, before a whole stream of public health issues impacts on a currently overloaded NHS. Congestion charges will only go so far, and as long as public transport remains so undesirable, people will still use their cars at any cost. However, that's only because there are no other alternatives.

The laws governing Personal Light Electric Vehicles is very outdated and relates the 1835 Highways Act when there were very few vehicles around, let alone any thought of congestion or pollution. Electric bikes are allowed to use the roads and cycle lanes, so why not electric scooters? It seems everyone involved in this transport issue is reluctant to give the go-ahead because they fear an increase in accidents. They tend to forget that if commuters are allowed to use electric scooters then the chances of accidents occurring will become less because there will be fewer cars on the road.

Safety helmets are available to e-scooter riders just as they are for bicycle riders and cycle lane users are very under-represented. Some bus lanes and cycle tracks can also accommodate e-scooters without affecting other road users and many public footpaths are also used infrequently. Is the government holding back until they can figure out the best way to tax the e-scooter rider? Citing the possibility of increased accidents would suggest this to be the case. And just think about all that congestion income and parking charges that could be lost.

It's time for a serious look at clean alternative modes of transport for our inner cities, to help remove the daily gridlock and cut down on dangerous CO2 emissions once and for all. Electric folding scooters save time and money, cost around one penny a mile to run, are kinder to the environment and can be neatly folded down to fit under a desk. What other realistic alternatives do we have that even come close?

It's seriously time for change.

help with a van thats not a van for AIA

You can save money on tax buying a van or transporter but also at the same time expect the item to lose value over time, how much will your £25000 item be worth in two years time or even one year
Paying tax and using a hired van when required may workout a better deal and no insurance or maintanance costs
