High street shop to warehouse.

Most councils have a 'duty planning officer' or some similar title who will discuss any potential planning schemes with applicants before the formal application is made: My experience is that the advice and practicality of their approach varies markedly from council to council.
It may be better to approach informally via a planning consultant who knows which council official will give the best advice on the likelihood of your scheme being permitted.

Stationery manufacturer sought

Hi, Lucky 8.

We're a UK Stationery manufacturer with a factory near London. We've designed and produced our own quality fashion stationery collections and bespoke private label products for High Street customers in the UK and across the world (both large and small!) for many years. Some of the UK made notebooks you see in the supermarkets and book stores are often ours ;-) Give us a shout if you're interested - we'd be happy to help/advise.

Gym Wear Manufacturers required.

Hi, I am thinking of starting a small fitness athleisure brand. I am searching for a UK manufacture, preferably West Midlands based in which can produce sportswear such as Yoga leggings, T-Shirts, and possibly made from Polyester and Elastane blend. I would also like to print my logo or be within talks of how to incorporate my brand onto the products. The range will be aimed at a Male and Female audience, with low quantity of items needed as I would like to start off small and hopefully increase over time. I'd love to hear from some manufacturers or anyone who has experience with this sort of thing.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Advice sought part II (this is where things get interesting)

Have your plans to move there changed, following your separation? If so then how about surrendering your US citizenship and the liabilities that came with it?
Looked into that, but to this I would have to clear any outstanding IRS returns/taxes, so I'd still have to pay the 40k to prepare the accounts and then any tax liability owed.

Also, if I do go bankrupt, then I may need to look at US for employment - so not an option at the moment.

Paying Salary, no turnover

I would like to carry on paying the salary as long as I can - until the money runs out basically. Is this OK or would HMRC start to question it after a few years.
Don't think hmrc will bat an eyelid if you keep paying yourself a salary. You are not claiming tax loss relief on it as the company is not trading.

The company will pay tax on any investment income received.

Corporation Tax Payment reminder and Corporation Tax return reminder

The corporation tax return reminder is basically as your companies financial year is ending they are reminding you that you need to submit a tax return in 12 months but payments in 9 months. The first letter is stating that you haven’t made a payment.

Check the dates in the OP again. These are reminders for Y/E 2018.

To the OP. Simply confirm with HMRC that they know that the company is dormant and so no CT600 due, yet.

How to stop images showing on Google

I understand why you don't want them to appear as you think it will make it easy for people to use. I don’t know what these are images of but if they are products removing them from google images might not be the best move.

If I need to find something on Google and get frustrated clicking links that take me to the wrong thing I go to images and click on the product images of what I want so it may affect sales for you.

Can any business call itself "the UK's number one"?

The ASA is the authority in this area https://www.asa.org.uk/type/non_broadcast/code_section/03.html

But they seem to be unsure of how to deal with the issue.....

3.2
Obvious exaggerations ("puffery") and claims that the average consumer who sees the marketing communication is unlikely to take literally are allowed provided they do not materially mislead.

3.7
Before distributing or submitting a marketing communication for publication, marketers must hold documentary evidence to prove claims that consumers are likely to regard as objective and that are capable of objective substantiation. The ASA may regard claims as misleading in the absence of adequate substantiation.

Start Up Vat Help

Am I right in thinking we don't have to do this until we hit the vat threshold of 85k?

Yes

At the moment we sell 100% to the public via ebay, amazon and our website. So I'm thinking vat for us will be especially bad and affect our sales?

If you are selling to private individuals then they will not be able to reclaim the VAT so it may influence whether they buy if other sellers are able to sell without VAT.

Is there any easy way to calculate what we should expect to pay.

There are two ways to work with VAT. There is the traditional method where you calculate the VAT payable on sales at 20% then deduct VAT you have been charged.

The other method is Flat Rate VAT. You decide what category your business falls under and pay over a fixed percentage of your sales every quarter. You do not reclaim VAT you have been charged except for capital items costing over £2,000. More information here.
