Would/do you buy from Temu?

I don't think I would buy electrical items or expensive stuff from Temu but is it OK for other things?

I know the sayings - too good to be true and you get what you pay for, but for items where quality isn't a major issue is it safe to buy from there?

As an example, I'm looking at golf carts

They are obviously cheap versions of big brands, but the big brand ones are more like £180 - £200

I don't particularly want to be paying an extra £100 just to have the "right name" on it, but is it safe to buy these discount products and does anyone have tips on buying on there?

    i.e.
This as an example, Brand official store, #best selling local warehouse

does that mean anything or just BS?

The only thing I got from Temu was poorly made tat. But I only paid 4.99 so can’t complain.

It was an egg collection basket for those who are interested (we have chickens).

Yeah, I wouldn't expect same quality as the good brands, but they are tempting when half the price.

I see the brand I am looking at is on Amazon too, so the question really should have been, is it safe to buy the cheap brand version of these things?

    The one I want - £190 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/PowaKaddy-Unisex-2022-Micra-Trolley/dp/B09VJJNVRN/?th=1

    Cheap version - https://www.amazon.co.uk/COSTWAY-Lightweight-Foldable-Adjustable-Insulation/dp/B0CL9TP4QL/?th=1

Cheap version also has extras which would add another £50 to the nice one.

Is it just snobbery paying for the name, or is the better-quality worth it?

That golf cart thingy even looks like shoddy crap in the photographs!

I buy quite a good deal from Temu, but only things where quality is not so important: stuff that gets used once or twice and is a local warehouse listed item. If you want to look windswept and groovy as you charge about the local golf field with your 58 different golf bats, go for quality.

Otherwise, Mr. Bulstrode, the local plumber, is going to laugh and point and say "Ey-oup! Yon bloke got one of them cheap carts off Temu!" and all his mates will be laughing.

P.S. I bought a really good kitchen tap from Temu for just £20. This one here -

It is so good that I bought a second one for the back-kitchen/utility room after using that one for two years without any faults or mishaps. Temu is like Amazon - some things are crap and others are brilliant.

I bought a putting mat off there a few weeks ago and its like any I have seen in american golf etc.

I am with you, electronic or expensive no.
Golf cart, tricky one. Im not sure. They are not ridiculously cheap where you know they will break but are they cheap enough to know you have little come back if it breaks on the 4th hole?

I ended up buying something between the really cheap ones and the really nice one from Amazon Resale (previously warehouse)

Described as Used - mint condition but not in original box for £50 cheaper than the non resale ones.

    Hopefully arriving on Tuesday

Not sure what Temu is, or how it differs from Amazon?

Our main problem with Amazon has been cheap Chinese junk, with dire return policies- they go to serious lengths to pretend they are UK based; we even dig into £10 purchases now.

If you think the cheap junk in the normal Amazon is bad, have a look at Amazon Haul.

It's in BETA at the moment, but is Amazons response to Temu

It arrived a day early and looks great so far :)

All still in the plastic bags, tags still on it, all extras included.

Can't really see why it was discounted so much.

It’s probably got a chip to feed your inability to win at golf back to the PRC. Expect streams of marketing emails offering golfing tuition, new balls, clubs and gaudy trews.

Get nonstop ads already, you only have to go looking on a few sites for golf stuff and you get more and more golf ads on other sites.

Its better than adverts for certain pills.

Took it out for 18 today, very pleased with it so far :)

Have to remember to push rather than pull though
I had went to course a few weeks ago and I have always had a 2 wheel trolley you pull which I am fine with. I had to borrow one and they pulled out a 3 wheeler and I think I went half way round pulling it on 2 wheels. I couldnt get used to it but I only had it for 1 round so wasnt to fussed.

I was doing the same, but when you do get used to pushing it is so much better. Easier to see scorecard. Easier to get clubs out, can set up mobile right in front of you, see distances as you walk to ball and get the right club out a lot quicker

I think Temu is like many cheap sites, some people love them others have nothing but problems. But you'll get people who will go anywhere to save a few pennies. I transcribed an interview with a student who has to take medication and she got her pill box off Temu (and it's not like they're that expensive at the chemist).

I must admit I would never considering buying anything from Temu but I rarely buy online unless I have to and even then I try to find a U.K. business to buy from (even if it is a chain) only going through Amazon as a last resort.

I wouldn't, I don't want to give my info to *every* suspiciously cheap chinese website. But I buy quite a bit from Aliexpress which is similar. Engravable blanks for my business, watch tools which are a fraction of the cost of swiss made, etc.
The same products that you will find on ebay or amazon just with longer delivery times and lower prices, so it makes sense sometimes, if you can stomach the ethics of it.

Does my head in, you go to look at something and hit with a load of crappy adverts, pick the cup with biggest discount in, get x off the order. When you do battle and actually buy something, its fine but agree its not for quality and I certainly wouldn't buy electrical from them.

Your trolly looks fine BTW, bet the wheel falls off in a couple of weeks though.

I have yet to make a purchase from Temu. But I have also yet to make a purchase from Amazon.

I am sure both are fine, if you take normal levels of care and recognise that any online purchase has the potential to either not be quite as pictured, or to be delivered next door.

Transparency here - I make very few purchases at all. I am old. I have almost everything I will ever need.
