December was a bit of a disaster, thanks to being busy/drunk at weekends or the weather working against me. I took my running stuff to Ireland for Christmas, and only got as far as the front door on one occasion. The prospect of running into sideways ran turned me back. I tried a long run before Christmas, and had to stop because I was running into the wind.
I had a really painful 5k on Sunday (I'd been suffering from a stomach upset all day) and managed a slow 10k on Tuesday. I'm hoping for a 10k tonight, but looking outside it may be a swim rather than a run.
I've set myself a goal of running 1000k this year, which means 20k per week. I know that's achievable most weeks, but travelling and the weather may restrict that.
The other issue is I've applied to cycle the Ring of Kerry in early July, which is a 180k ride. There's several issues here, the main ones being I don't own a bike and I've only ridden once in the last 35 years. So, I'll need some serious training between now and then, which may impact on my running time.
