Who For Business Cards?

who do you personally recommend for business cards?

I have found a website offering 250 for under £5 and others are £20+ for the same quantity.

Quality in this context is about the card

Vistaprint are actually good Quality printers, but at cheap level they rely on cheap card - and once you start to upgrade they soon become expensive

With any DIY option the resl differentiator is design and setting - no matter what Quality the base product, if these are out the product will look rubbish.

So, in a nutshell, invest in pre-print

The thing with business cards is that they are so cheap, the price between average and good really makes no difference, so you may as well get good ones.

Yes, moo are at the better end of the market. Not only in terms of the card, but templates and service too.

Valid point. I regret getting (god knows how many) printed a couple of years ago, more for the environmental cost than the pennies they cost. Probably last me 20 years at the rate I am going through them. Obviously COVID has meant none have shifted for a year or so as I've barely left my desk but even still I think they're becoming a tad old school, likely another relic or casualty of changing times in another 10 years. I wouldn't expect (and to be honest don't want) to receive a business card from someone these days, perhaps once upon a time I would. I just bin them as soon as I have saved the details in my phone, once upon a time I had the business card holder booklets and had to spend 15 mins flicking through a few booklets to find a contact.

Business is changing so quickly, I don't expect physical brochures these days (clutter the place up and invariably get binned), don't expect salesmen in suits, don't expect business cards...and I always thought we were behind the times in my business, dragged kicking and screaming into 21st century.

Oh yes.
I go through probably 50 plus cards at the spring or autumn fairs at NEC. Smaller fairs may go through just a half dozen to a dozen.
Useful for instances where you want to pass details to someone else after a brief meeting. Say you come across Richard Branson in an elevator....
Useful for having contacts too - my supplier book has multiple business cards, updated as reps change. Several companies I have both rep and boss cards.

The cards are handy things however they aren't a replacement for having a business relationship. They are a start, a reminder and a physical contact point. They aren't the same as talking to someone.

A couple of my staff use business cards, but personally I haven't used business cards for quite a few years. They (my colleagues) had some printed for me in 2017 when we rebranded the company, and they haven't left my desk drawer . I think it depends on what your job entails, I don't do trade fairs such as @Mr D and the occasionally networking event I may attend I'm not representing my own business but an organisation as organiser or guest (Chamber or Charity) so attendees usually know who I am on that basis. Plus I'm a grumpy git and don't like people knowing my contact details

Local print shop for mine.

He kept the layout on file so I could get more with a phone call.

Also he could do compliment slips, letter headers etc to match if you tell him what you want.

Okay you can get that online but he was just as cheap and it’s supporting the local economy.

Vistaprint are good value for money. We had some made with rounded corners and as good as ones a local printer made with square corners and a fraction of the price. Also quick delivery.

solopress.com are hard to beat for quality and service across a range of items.

I use local printers for some things and they are reasonably competitive but sometimes fall short though their flexibility is very good.
