What global warming?

There has not been any global warming for the last 13 years.

But the people who create the reports basically lie to support the green agenda.

Ten years is neither here nor there - but it does require a proper explanation.

I dislike the seeming dishonesty of it though; it's not like they could hide it or stood any chance of it not being noticed. This stuff is published in the full light of day and will be pored over by every man and his dog.

Make the price lower than a petrol/diesel car and i would buy one, it would suit my commute very well, but i am not paying over the odds for what is in effect a limited range vehicle.

Dave that was a spam comment mate. He's talking about a recent initiative from gordon Brown?

The other thing about these battery cars is that people seem to miss that they still require charging from a plug....

Greenhouse effect
Solar radiation from the sun enters our atmosphere in the short wave (i.e. visible light) warming the earth's surface. Approx. 50% of this radiation is absorbed by the earth, the rest is re-radiated back out into the atmosphere in the long wave (i.e. infra-red thermal radiation). In the long wave, the thermal radiation is absorbed by greenhouse gases in our atmosphere (i.e. water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane etc.). The greenhouse gases trap this heat and re-radiate it out in all directions resulting in an effect which is similar to a greenhouse (hence greenhouse effect). The process is completely natural and helps ensure that our planet is kept at a nice balmy temperature. Of course, natural fluctuations in the concentration of greenhouse gases, from volcanoes etc, lead to variations in the greenhouse effect and thus result in climatic variations. This is not to be confused with other natural drivers of climate change such as cyclical changes in the earth orbit around the sun.

Global warming
Global warming refers to the phenomenon related to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases due to human activity, such as the burning of fossil fuels. Climate science suggests that human activity since industrialisation has dramatically increased the concentration of greenhouse gases (particularly carbon dioxide) in our atmosphere. Scientists argue that the observed change in the concentrations of greenhouse gases is leading to an acceleration of the greenhouse effect - hence the term global warming.

I thought they had perfected perpetual motion?
;)

Has anyone done any research on the difference between running a car on petrol and running a similar car on electric specifically relating to the overall emissions produced including those of the power station producing the charge power as well as the emissions produced during the manufacture of each car? Very difficult to do i suppose but seems very pertinent to me.

Don't forget disposal of the batteries.

It will likely fail as i think battery units have a useful life of only 5 years or so whereas my diesel land rover is 18 years old and still going strong, and no it doesn't smoke like a chimney either ;)

It's another one of these things that has been swept under the carpet in favour of the mad rush to being "green."

There are quite a few things being marketed as being "green" that actually have a huge carbon footprint in manufacture and shipping.

So what are they really saving us?

So what are they really saving us?

nothing, but there are those that will feel good about themselves just by buying into something that they 'perceive' to be green, even though it is having a negative impact in reality.

It will be a bad day when, after we have all bought our green cars, fitted solar panels to our heads and stuck a windmill up our arses that we finally discover we are making things worse rather than better because of all the hidden emissions that we were not told of ;)

it cant be done.you could always pop into space and have a word with the sun,or get rid of volcanoes,or maybe just except it cant be done. when they eventually find trees and greenery from past under the antartic then you will see its all just normal cycles

The one thing we are forgetting is that it's 2012 and with all this terrible global warming, all the current conflict in the world, the UK's extreme weather of late and the Mayan prophecy that the world will end December - the one and only thing we can be sure of is that next year will be two thousand and thirteen and feck all will have changed.

extreme weather?
didnt the thames freeze over at least once?
i dont see anything different to how its always been.not in my life time but when looking back surely we can see that the thames river freezing over should be classed as extreme.
and even if it were to happen tomorrow, then because it has happened before i could still not call it extreme.

Industrialisation is the most dangerous for ozone friendly layer covering whole of planet earth. Rapid deforestation damage the ozone-friendly environment.

So now we have a supposedly ethical scientist (chairman of an ethics committee, no less) admitting that he lied for his cause - an individual who most likely forged (poorly) a document that casts non-AGW folks in a bad light. In the meantime, no warming, only moderate cooling, has been seen over the last ten years - contradicting all the computer models of doom.

If we don't admit that radical environmental groups pulled the wool over our eyes, the British tax-payer remains liable for almost one trillion pounds in funding.

Yet another article that reveals absolutely no correlation between IPCC computer models and real life. The only slight variation over the previous decade is a slight cooling of the lower atmosphere.

Is there any chance that radical environmentalists will follow Feynmann's advice and throw away their bad models, or do we have to keep pretending that we enjoy being taxed billions to fund their little jaunt?

Everyone must have to know about what global warming is..
how one should take care of natural elements as like trees water resources

Yes, i agree, everyone should know that global warming is just a political excuse to levy yet more taxation on working people, we have no control over the climate of this planet.

Good question, scientists, political parties, cannot find the answer. Prehaps the answer is so simple, every earth cycle (25,000 years) the earth naturally cools (ice age) and warms up in next 25,000 years. Well mother earth knows the answer. But man made contributions to 'global warming' is accelerating the cycle process, but know one on this planet knows if it is going hot or cold?

Fantastic, I've been on about it for years and finally it's coming out. suppressed or not, most of the people who got sucked in by global warming were the same kind of people who were sucked in by religion :-)

 oh how very dare you..
but as i see it your probably right.as when religion first came about, almost everyone was in on it. so when global warming first came out the same happened....
the creator told me the earth was fine and dandy ;)

Global warming is the rising average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century and its projected continuation. Since the early 20th century, Earth's average surface temperature has increased by about 0.8 °C(1.4 °F), with about two thirds of the increase occurring since 1980.Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and scientists are more than 90% certain that most of it is caused by increasing concentrations of green house gases produced by human activities such as deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. These findings are recognized by the national science academies of all major industrialized nations.

So your whole premise on Man Made G.W not hapenning is what? No it's not the sun, Yes it happening, yes it man made. I do not argue anymore I jsyt point people to the facts..sadly most have made their minds up already any way.
"it's the sun....volcanoes put out more co2 than man...we have been through this before...It's B*S*.....it was cold here yesterday..."

Based on what? Give me the source of your scientific backed "opinion"....

I'd liken it more to smoking and the cancer relationship. Art first people denied it. Big tobacco smeared the idea that cnacer wa srelated to smoking..then over time as education grew we relaized there was 100% a link Even the tobacco companies agreed.

Same woth big oil and G.W....we are now at the "smear campaign..." Few years they admit ok..there is a link but so what carry on buying our $1 oil at $100+ so we can make billions and billions...

We'll quietely forget aboutt he 25C+ week we had in March then....sure....

We are in the middle of the coldest winter on record so tell me about global warming again..........
