I have a All in One PC which I purchased a few years ago. It was at a fantastic price and is still a reasonable specification. It has a Core i7 chip (2600s) 6Gb of memory and a SSD drive. It was a Windows 7 machine which I upgraded to Windows 10.
The upgrade was difficult but eventually worked. My problem is that the anniversary upgrade keeps failing. I remain on build 1511. All attempts to fix this have failed. The one remaining fix that I have not yet tried is resetting the computer and starting from scratch. I have of course updated all the drivers and all other software (not that there is much).
The machine itself runs acceptably fast and is more than sufficient for what I do. However it is irritating having the weekly black screen and hour wasted whilst I have to re-boot and re-boot repeatedly until it fails to update and rolls the update back.
The question is, is it worth resetting the operating system and re installing all my software. Or shall I just leave it alone? If I cannot upgrade beyond build 1511 what security risks am I running? ( I run a upto date professional anti virus and fire wall) How long can I sensibly run this version of windows before I am forced to do something?
